I remember when it was only broadcast in Philly and other parts of Pa. Waaaay back when the host was Bob Horn. Actually I seem to recall a time when there were 2 hosts, one whose first name was Lee....or maybe that was his last name. Anyway......that's how old I am.

Yes! I grew up in a Philly suburb and my babysitters would go downtown to dance on Bandstand after school. My mother and I would watch to see if they got on camera. I got so excited if they did (I was about 5 or 6 at the time).

@Somertime

Good heavens...you remember Bob and Justine?  Me too!  And Arlene & Kenny, although they are a bit vague in my mind now.  There were other regular couples we idolized.

Wonder if Bob and Justine married?

This show was such a gift to those of us living in small town USA.  It was a glimpse into the outside world of other teens, and it gave us somethng to dream about.

My sis and I would move things out of the way and "hand dance" in the living room.  We would practice using the doorjams, then together.  There was a little hesitation step going on in the mix, and it took us a long time to get it just right.

Happy memories!

@shaggygirl. Your post reminded me of Pinky Lee! "It's me, it's me. My name is Pinky Lee."

I watched AB every day too. My older sister was obsessed with it.
