There was probably a great deal of discussion at the network about presenting an episode about a bomb so soon after the tragic events at the Boston Marathon only two weeks ago. The situations weren't identical, but the last thing they'd need would be accusations of insensitivity.
The basic plot is straight from LETHAL WEAPON: Danny Glover on the bomb-wired commode with insane but loyal partner Mel Gibson sticking by his side.
Was it smart to have Beckett using a cellphone while standing on the bomb when that could've detonated it suddenly?
Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed this clip show trip down memory lane. Imagine what it takes to put a show like this together. They had to review more than 100 episodes and the result was so much fun. On the practical side, is it really the best idea to bicker about the origins of a relationship when one person is standing on a live bomb?
I continue to have doubts about the wisdom of a Castle and Beckett romance. The intrinsic enjoyment of so many other good shows was destroyed when the two leading characters finally succumbed to their lusty urges. Remember Dave and Maddie on MOONLIGHTING; Booth and Brennan on BONES; Sam and Diane on CHEERS? (Of course, Shelley Long left the show to become a movie star).
All logic aside, this was a fun retrospective. Totally loved seeing the many guest stars and Beckett's range of hairstyles and colors over five years.
