Believe me when I tell you I was a very "minor player" in any NPC visits. 

Normally, I was only invited along when my bosses needed "a girl" to distriubte something or see to it there was a place to make copies if necessary.

It always felt important to be there, but my job generally boiled down to passing out paper

And, I never got to see anyone I even remember now!

I've felt for a while that RR is probably one of those people that looks best on screen.

While his looks are appealing, they are better at a distance.

I don't think you missed anything.  My take is he had not had any hand in the daughter's upbringing.  Probably never saw her.  I've always felt it was HIS choice.

I think @golding76  pegged him well.

Once he was out of the relationship, he just unplugged and never went back regardless of having a daughter with her.

He just moved on....and THAT was the thing that disappointed.  He might have had some fleeting twinge, but, for the most part, it was in the past as was Katie.
