Tonight, @just bee and any other fans:
8:00 p.m. Eastern-- "The Lion in Winter", Sunday, TCM Katharine Hepburn, Peter O'Toole, Anthony Hopkins, Timothy Dalton, Jane Merrow
Multiple award winner. Brilliant, scathing depiction of medieval royal "chess players", ha. Directed by Anthony Harvey, witty and wonderful script by James Goldman.

This has been my favorite film since 1968. The Goldman screenplay is, for all intents and purposes, Goldman's play. Some of the best lines, best performances and best music (thank you, John Barry).
Have never quite forgiven the Academy for not awarding Peter O'Toole Best Actor or the film Best Picture.
I held on tight to the paperback version of the play (and Becket, too); unfortunately, both were victims of the house fire.
However, although they are still in boxes somewhere, the DVD and soundtrack record album were restored... as far as I know.
I would kill to watch it on TCM, but I have Comcast. Which means I no longer have TCM. I feel about Comcast the way I feel about the Academy.

Thanks for posting this, as somehow I missed seeing it in the lineup.
It's also one of my favorites of Peter O'Toole. (Becket being another.🐝)
This is one of the times I'm glad to have my overpriced satellite service, because I do still get TCM. 😉💸
ETA: @just bee , As I was just now setting my recording for this, I noticed that Silence of the Lambs is on right afterwards. Man, you're missing out tonight! 🍷🧆(I don't have a fava bean emoji!😳😆)

See, I knew you had excellent taste.
ETA:
The Silence of the Lambs, however...
It wasn't a great year for film.

I didn't include The Lion in Winter on my tearjerker thread, but it has always been one for me. I always snot up.
If anyone out there hasn't seen it, pop some corn and prepare for a real treat.

You can always consol yourself today with Breaking Bad.
I've resisted watching the marathons because I'm just so p____d off about the meth problem in this town. I have more than enough patients who broke bad and are now permanently damaged.
I haven't even watched the recent Breaking Bad film and I doubt I'll watch Better Call Saul this season.
I'm done.

This is a superb movie. Hepburn and O'Toole are fantastic and the entire production worth watching without a doubt. I love these type movies, filled with history, beautiful settings and top of the line acting.
