Here we go.

Those are the actors and director from the production.   Not audience members.

They all meet the production safety protocols in adherence with Actor Equity requirements.  They are not audience members.  They are obeying every rule.  The masking rule is for the audience.

It's pretty basic and straightforward.

@Johnnyeager because they're better than - in a different class than the audience?  Who gives a rats backside about protocols.  Yep, do as I say, rules for thee but not for me.....

@CelticCrafter Seriously? Have you any idea how ridiculous your statement sounds? They are providng a paid service to the audience, the same as any private business including airlines. Each establishment has their policy regarding masking and any other protocols they may want to put inplace. Their "house" their rules. Same as what you deem acceptable behaviour in your own house. Don't like it? Keep your "rat's backside" at home, or give your business to an establishment that meets your views.

Right now there is an issue with leaked video taken at a Broadway show of an actor during a nude scene. The theater had banned phones and was collecting them in the lobby and locking them up. Thiis jerk smuggled it in, took the video and put it up on the internet. According to your statement, are you saying that this behavior is acceptable because an audience member can do as they please?

@NigelSparkles Yes seriously.

If you're okay with some private business confiscating your property while you are in the establishment, have it...

I will keep my "rat's backside" as you so rudely called me, home.

Re: Visiting Broadway? Wear Your Mask!

I'm guessing that one person in the front was NOT the only person without a mask over their nose.  No need for the actress to scold anyone in the audience who took time out of their day and spent alot of money to be there.

Personally I refuse to go someone that requires me to wear a mask especially when those who make these silly rules obviously don't follow them anyway.  Were people wearing masks who attended the Met Gala last week????? No the guests weren't but sadly I saw the background people forced to wear them.

Re: Visiting Broadway? Wear Your Mask!

[ Edited ]

I get it that the rules are as they are and that the expectations were supposedly made clear but had Ms. Lupone or anyone else spoken to another person so harshly out in the real world, odds are she'd have been, at the very least, called on it. It was a bit excessive. RIght or wrong, agree with her or not, a brief and less aggressive explanation of the expectations and the suggestion that the option was to leave was all that was necessary. There was no reason to escalate the matter into a full blown confrontation. Had the audience members refused to either leave or comply, they could have been escorted out. This however, is sort of how Patti Lupone rolls. I believe she also has stopped a performance to lambaste someone taking pictures, which was forbidden and I believe she's also known to have confiscated a cell phone from an audience member. Generally, she garners support for her actions, but it seems there should be a better way. Still, she's an amazing talent and I consider myself a fan.

Who's Patti Lapone? Never heard of her

The name sounded familiar, but I googled her.  A video came up of an audience member throwing a bouquet of roses and it hit her in the head.  Awful looking.  I wonder if this was the same performance this happened?

I suppose if you believe Q stuff you would make that distinction.

I don't believe any antiscience conspiracy theories. What I do believe is over a million dead in the US.

If you can't follow the rules in a crowded theater to reduce the risk of spreading disease, you don't belong in the theater.

This would be untrue.  However, we all hear your "skewed" political statement.
