Lukas Nelson is Willie Nelson's son. He sounds very much like Willie when he sings. I was wondering why I had not heard him before Willie's 90th Birthday Special. He is famous in other ways.

Bradley Cooper worked with Lukas on his performance and stage presence for his role in "A Star is Born." He and Lukas wrote and produced songs for the movie and Lukas was his vocal coach. Lukas worked with Cooper to lower his speaking voice. He wanted to sound more like Sam Elliott. The process took a year for Cooper to be ready for the film performances. Lukas and his group were Bradley Cooper's band in the film.

Today Bradley Cooper was nominated for Best Actor in "Maestro." No doubt he prepared diligently for this role as well.

@On It   I didn't know any of this backstory to the movie.  What man wouldn't want to sound like Sam Elliott lol, so sexy!  

This story is Very interesting!  I love Willie Nelson and knew that his sister was piano player in his band but I had no idea his son also performs.  I'll have to look him up.  I think both Willie's sister and his drummer passed away in the last couple years.

@cheriere Willie tours with his family. Some of his children perform. If you saw the special, another son was playing guitar. He was directly behind George Strait. Lukas was behind Willie.

Willie's daughter Paula sings and hosts a late afternoon program on the Sirius Radio station "Willie's Roadhouse." She is a character and tells the funniest stories about Big Papa, Willie. Willie had 8 children. Lukas is the child of Willie's current wife. Willie's grandmother who raised him encouraged his musical interests and his sister's.

@On It   I knew he toured with his family, but I've never really watched any others perform.  I'm definitely going to look up the special to watch.  I'll try to find the Willie's Roadhouse program too.  Hearing stories of what must've happened in their lives is the best part lol.

I used to watch a show online called "The Old Dogs". It featured stars like Waylon, Bobbie Bare, Jerry Reed, George Jones etc. and they'd just sit around telling some of the best stories you can imagine.  I've re-watched some several times because there so funny and unbelievable 😂

Willie and his family play Whitewater Amphitheater here every year.  They have two dates scheduled in May.

Lukas does sound a lot like his dad. When he performed " Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground " during Willie's 90th Birthday Special, I swear, if I would have closed my eyes, I would have thought it was Willie when he was younger. That happens to be one of my favorite Willie Nelson songs.❤

I saw Willie and Lucas perform at a small venue in Delaware. Agree that his son sounds very similar to him. I thought he had a slightly different style, a little more “bluesy” than dad. Really enjoyed that show.

Lukas has his band Promise of the Real.I have seen them play backup for Neil Young at some concerts on tv. His best song is Find Yourself. I would post the video from youtube but wasn't sure if it would be flagged? Check it  out.
