He was an invaluable character actor, with a high likeability factor. I really liked him (and he got great notices) in the Art Carney- Lily Tomlin mystery, "The Late Show", a terrific Seventies' "neo-noir". RIP.

Both he and Bea lived into their nineties, can't do much better than that.
