I didn't see this movie last night but I have seen it recently.  It's one of my favorites, for sure.  I don't know that Mary Astor outshone Bette Davis, though.  That would be an individual opinion but I can say that both the ladies and George Brent were outstanding.

@Shelbelle, I'm thinking there were at least four, but not sure about that.  After "Dark Victory" and this one, I'm drawing a blank on the others.  Anyone?

George Brent frequent and most prolific co-star Bette Davis featured in eleven films: So Big! (1932), The Rich Are Always With Us (1932), Housewife (1934), Front Page Woman (1935), Special Agent (1935), The Golden Arrow (1936), Jezebel (1938), Dark Victory (1939), The Old Maid (1939), The Great Lie (1941) and In This Our Life (1942).

Oh, and dont you just love Hattie McDaniel, I just wanted to give her a huge hug in this movie, BTW it was her real life brother, Sam, who played Jefferson, the butler, here too.
