@icezeus and anyone else who remembers the middle of the first season.

 

At Christmastime, he drives to Las Vegas to visit his ex-wife and daughter.

 

I love her new husband. What a confident, gracious guy! His ex-wife is very confident as well, and just prickly enough to be an ex-wife yet gracious as well. She went from FBI profiler to professional poker player. Now that's a brilliant way to re-use "a very particular set of skills." (Apologies to the Taken franchise.)

Excellent, excellent both in print and on film. One of Best crime series ever. 
Opening is great.
