In preparation for its March 27th Season 2 launch, Reelz is repeating all six hours of Season 1 of the excellent series BOMB GIRLS in a marathon on Saturday, March 2nd starting at 11AM ET. http://www.reelz.com/content.aspx?nid=581

If you like period dramas such as DOWNTON ABBEY and CALL THE MIDWIFE, you'll certainly enjoy this one that focuses on several women who work in a World War II munitions factory. Just as compelling are their personal lives; the backstories explaining why they're working there. One is a battered wife, on the run from an abusive husband. Another has an invalid husband who can't work, therefore she must support the family. There's also a pampered socialite, whose life always was dictated by her domineering father, who expects her to marry well, which the heiress believes means having her life controlled by an unfaithful husband.

Other than Meg Tilly and Peter Outerbridge, most of the cast are relatively unknown to American audience, but collectively they form a superb ensemble. It's interesting that Charlotte Hegele (below - left) who portrays Kate, looks like a younger Emma Thompson; Jodi Balfour (below - right) who plays the heiress Gladys, looks like Katharine McPhee of SMASH.
