Re: Attention Doris Day Fans

Kennedy Center Honors as well as Governor's Board of Oscars for an Honorary Oscar have both tried to honor Doris Day.  She always turned them down. She just is not interested.  Doris Day only received 1 Oscar nomination during her career for Pillow Talk.  She certainly deserved one for Love Me or Leave Me but did not get one.  I think the Academy wanted to honor her because Doris Day was a top 10 box office star for  at least 10 years. She obviously made a great deal of money for the industry.

She did accept the Cecile DeMille award at the Golden Globes when she was 69 years old.  She make a spectacular speech and looked years younger than she was.

Have been watching on and off all day!!  I have seen most of her movies - some several times.  I haven't seen Julie - will try to stay up and see it early morning!  She has always been one of my favorite stars...actor, singer.  Her voice is unique and so very "easy listening". There is something about her voice when she sings a soft ballad...it is so soulful!
