That got ugly there at the end last night. The teams are not seeing each other's houses, so they have no idea what they were competing against.
Egypt was pretty clear that the complainers house was safe.
That ombre tile in Alison's bathroom. Unreal.

The segment on Steve Ford was hilarious. Apparently he was the hit of the cast and "California Steve," as Leanne called him, wasn't really into working very much.
I didn't realize that Leanne moved to California and after having a baby they moved back to PA and now they're doing their new show, Home Again with the Fords. I'm glad she's not making stupid craft projects this season, like she did in Restored by the Fords. She's been a little more main stream so far.
I haven't seen that, will need to try and find it.

Yes the one team was not happy. None of their closets were very large or wows. Last season they did more on the closets. I think in that large of a house they will expect a wow master closet. I thought each team brought some positives. It will be interesting to see if Allison and Mike's team enlarges the laundry room. I think the 100 day couple are more practicle and going for what an average buyer would want. It will be interesting to see if any of them change their plan. That is a good point that they don't know what the others house looks like.

I think that was Mina's downfall last season. She doesn't do high end stuff and she could not compete on the level with the others. Carrera marble is about the only thing she splurges on and quite honestly I can't imagine the upkeep of Carrera marble.

I actually don't think last season's winner was much different from Mina. They made similar design choices from what I could remember. The turning point was the pool - that's why she won IMO.

I suppose Alison and Mike could put a washer/dryer in the basement? In addition to a closet unit upstairs. And how does Nate and Jeremiah have any $$ left - they seem on par with others, but still seems like they are spending sooo much! I imagine their basement idea will be bonkers expensive too!
I'm probably just missing it, but I can't find how many episodes are left.

Yes I think you are right about the actual winner last time. She added the pool and extra bathroom and that was what brought up the appraised value. I think they said at the end of this week that they have 4 more challenges. I am curious to see what they do with those front porches. I don't know if they can tear that part off. It just makes the house looks so "country." Yes I also think Nate and Jeremiah will run out of money. That is what happened with the Fords last time, they had no money left to finish the spare rooms.

Yes the pool seemed to be the deciding factor and I remember there was some back and forth about whether a pool adds value or not due to upkeep and safety concerns. I think that's an age old real estate question that really doesn't have a definitive answer other than if you have a buyer who wants a pool or not.
re washer/dryer
On various HGTV shows they talk about a washer/dryer on the same level as the bedrooms for convenience and I don't get the appeal at all. I personally don't do laundry overnight so it's not an issue of the machine running while people are trying to sleep. (I also don't run my dishwasher over night) and I don't run the dryer when I'm not home.
It probably depends on how much laundry you do and how much it requires going up and down stairs.
I do one load a week and occasionally a second load when I have enough of said color for a full load, so it may be different for people who have a family of 5 and do a load every single day.

Washer Dryer,
I am not sure there is a great place for laundry. My last house it was off the kitchen and bedrooms were upstairs so I had to carry the laundry up and down. We built this house 22 years ago and had the laundry room put upstairs near the bedrooms. That is also not great, because we spend most of our time on the main floor, so I start some and forget about it. Basement is defintely the worse, I have had that too.

This week I have just 2 words. Bowling Alley?
Behind the Block was interesting. At least we got to see a little moreTy and some of the unseen footage.

I kind of fell asleep thru this so I have to go back and watch, but I wasn't really crazy about any of the basements. The bowling alley was just a really bad choice, don't know who would pay extra for something like that maybe in a $10 million dollar home. I think last night they said there are only two more. I am guessing outside, and maybe other rooms in the house?
