People have always loved to gawk at freak shows.
Freak shows were popular with the circus/carnivals, and now they are popular on our tv screens.
I am not calling these people "freaks", but that's the catagory that they would've fallen in to back in the day.
I think you just did.

No, you are wrong.
I guess you have never seen pictures like this from the past.
That is what I was referring to.

Why would anyone who does have a fat fetish want to see something like that?

Of course. There has to be drama (real or fake) to keep viewers coming back.

I haven't seen this, but I am noticing that the Dr Now show is back with new episodes (Wednesday nights on TLC). I missed the first two but am recording the one that aired last night (I actually forgot to do that but this thread reminded me, so thanks!).

@haddon9 My day and evening are both devoted to the Mummers, along with the scoring sheets. I really thought Hegeman had it for the Strings (South Philly was not even in my running, and I am a South Philly girl), but I did get it right on the Fancies.

They were both rather obnoxious. Turned it off after 15 minutes...totally trash TV. They must have been cheap to hire.

@SXMGirl This year I really didn't pay attention to the winners..but I love the costumes. Some years I get more involved. My daughter lives in Pennsport and has been at the big 2 street party they have after the parade...seems like fun!

OK, I admit I watched the program. Why? I find people fascinating and would rather see real people dealing with problems than movie stars pretending they're dealing with life in a movie.

I watched and I had mixed feelings. When they told Dr. Procter via Skype that they were told when they were growing up that if they ate something sweet and then drank diet pop, it would cancel out the sweet! WTH! How can one be so dense? Just watching them eat turned my stomach. I am heavy and have dealt with weight all my life, but this was just something else. Their You Tube channel is even worse.
