I had never seen this before. I had heard of it but for some reason never got to see it. I've been DVR-ing it, and it's SO funny! Sherman Hemsley is terrific, as is the whole cast. I didn't know Clifton Davis ("The Reverend") is a minister IRL until after I started watching. I tried to find the whole series on a streaming channel, because I came in late, but I couldn't.

Of course I had to research as much as I could!

Any other fans of this show?

@beach-mom  I used to watch that show and remember liking it. I never saw it in re runs so I'm having a hard time recalling any episodes.

Sherman Hemsley was a hoot as a comedian.

I remember really enjoying that show back when it was on.  I also had a crush on Clifton Davis!  I liked him in another show that he had been in,  "That's My Mama".

I enjoyed the show; particularly Sherman, the sisters and the older Deacon.  Thelma was way too whiney for me.  I do catch it on occasion.

@KBEANS - It's SO funny! I haven't erased the wedding episodes so I can show DD. "Thelma" - and her cooking - just make me laugh!  Smiley LOL

Wasn't there a Melba Moore Clifton Davis show, too?  I'll have to google.
