I loved last night finale for season 5, such happy endings. Father is ok, and has now stopped being such a grump. I am glad the Bates were united, and carson and Hughs are getting together,glad that butler Thomas is being nicer. Just a all round great cast. the old ladies are a hoot,Maggie is great .I am sad its ending so soon,if they show reruns I would watch it. Why does Mary dislike her sister so much?I didn; t start watching till season 4 so I need to go back and watch the other seasons.love it.tucka.

I read that Christmas lights did exist back in 1924 - I think in the UK they are called fairy lights. But yes, a wealthy family like the Granthams would have them.

Hi Downton lovers. I am chiming in here a bit late as I had recorded this and watched it last night. Sure did feel like many endings, didn't it?

I read somewhere that Julian Fellowes (hope I got his name right?) is starting a new series on NBC called The Gilded Age which starts next year. Sounds like a good one! LM

It was alot of happy endings to season 5. Actually I kept waiting for something awful to happen. I guess after the last episode of season 3, when Matthew died in the accident, I always expect the other shoe to drop at season's end. Although I enjoyed watching the final episode, I thought it was a bit lackluster. But then again, I just can hardly wait for season 6 to start. Are we sure that season 6 is to be the last season????? I was so hoping that Tom Branson would stay at Downton, he is one of my favorite characters. Here's to season six!!!
