I think he is a great actor - I love so many of his movies. He seems to be very happily married with a beautiful family. My opinion is based on what I have read to have happened. It was absolutely a mistake, absolutely not intentional, it will haunt everyone involved forever. But a horrible, tragic accident can still be a criminal act. JMO.

After the incident, other actors were interviewed who said that they ALWAYS check their weapons themselves and were trained to do so.
Alec claimed that he never did that, that he was never told to do that.
He would not want me on the jury.

After the accidental death of Brandon Lee I am sure that the requirements in handling firearms on a movie set became more stringent. There is just no excuse to what happened on the set of "Rust".

Jurors like to see remorse. Thus far, he has shown none, save for some fake tears during the ABC interview.
I guess he and an acting coach have time to work on it.

Looks like that interview is coming back to haunt him. The victim's family wants Baldwin to get the max prison time, and are very anxious to see him behind bars. I am doubtful that will happen, but it would be justice in their eyes. Baldwin's attorney is an art attorney...deals with stolen paintings. There are now three defendants in this case, but Baldwin is the most culpable because he pulled the trigger. He is still insisting he is innocent. Amazing. By the time he gets to court, he may be in for a rude awakening. Interesting they promoted the victim's father to executive producer after the killing....what's up with that timing? Just heard the max for this crime is actually 6 1/2 years.

It is her husband who is now an Executive Producer, not father.

It sounds like there were a lot things going on during filming that set the stage for this horrible accident. Many of the film crew had quit due to various concerns and new crew members were brought in which put them behind schedule. The armorer Hannah was also serving as a prop assistant and was told by the production company to focus more on her prop duties.
I'm sure everyone on the set was deeply affected by the accidental shooting, including Hannah and Alec. But ultimately Hannah's job was to manage the weapons on set and Alec should have either checked the gun himself or had a more knowledgeable person do it for him if he didn't know how.
IMO, they should both accept responsibilty for their negligence and try to negotiate plea deals. I am an Alec Baldwin fan, but he needs to get off his high horse and show some remorse for his actions.

Baldwin was relying on the arms person to do his job. I can see Baldwin liable in civil court because he was one of the producers of the movie but I can't see him guilty of manslaughter. It's never been expected that actors recheck weapons given to them to use after the weapon has been checked by professionals in charge of arms on movie productions. It's not Baldwin that should be charged. It's the arms person.

@Mindy D That's the fuzzy part for me. Alec has said that he has never had to check a weapon before in all of his movies, but other sources state that it is standard protocol for the actor to either check the gun or watch it being checked. On top of that, the gun was handed to him by the assistant director of the movie David Halls who has already secured a plea bargain. Shouldn't the armorer hand the gun to the actor?

I'm a fan of his but feel it's about time for some responsibility in this death. You do not point a gun at someone and pull the trigger without double, triple checking it's status. Likewise the person responsible for all the props needs to be prosecuted. Honestly, I'm sick of the privileged walking away from their crimes.
