@Laura14 wrote:@Linmo If he selected the armorer or had any say in her being on set, I withdraw my post. I don't think I have heard that said yet, but if true, I can see the charge.
The sad thing is that it will probably go to a negotiated plea deal with no jail time, possible probation, and a huge fine after all is said and done.
This is all for nothing except grandstanding for the prosecutors and a big money grab for the county.
Comments online this morning suggest they are charging Alec to coerce him into taking a plea deal. I doubt any prosecutor would want this to go to trial .

He should have checked it first to ensure that there were infact dummy rounds in there. He could have shaken the gun to tell. Just a million mistakes happened by several people, and that poor young woman is dead.
If you open the gun and see shells inside, can you tell if they are real bullets or dummy rounds? If so, what's the difference?

@Tinkrbl44 IMO just quickly looking at the bottom of the rounds, hard to distinguish. He could have unloaded it all then individually shake each round to ensure they were dummy. Plus you can tell by looking at each round all around (not just the bottom).

I hope fair-minded jurors will be seated. People on chat threads don't have all the information to try this case; he deserves a fair trial.
No doubt his deepest regret is that he trusted the armorer to do her job.
My personal guess is, since the charge is "involuntary" manslaughter, he'll probably be found guilty since he certainly had no intent.
I don't know if seeing him behind bars is what the victim's family wants but clearly many in the public domain want it. Odd, since he's not harmed them. Makes me understand the Salem Witch trials.

And public hangings.

Hi @lgfan I don't know if you are responding to my opinion that I posted above. If so, I will try to clarify my thoughts. If it is proven that this armorer was not qualified for this job and it is proven that Baldwin was responsible for her hire...that is one thing. I don't know that that is the case yet. However most of the conversation about why he should be found guilty is the fact that he didn't inspect the gun, shouldn't have pointed the gun, should have unloaded the gun and inspected the ammo etc, etc.......And my opinion is simply that THAT is not and SHOULD not be proof of guilt. It is not his responsibility. In the end, it would have never happened if real guns had been banned after previous incidents on other movies regarding real guns used on set.

He was not just an actor on the movie. He was also one of the producers. Yes, it was also his responsibility to know about guns. He cannot blame the armorer that he hired. Everyone is passing the buck. He, she, they are responsible for the incident except Alec Baldwin.
