If I were an actor in a movie I wouldn't know the first thing about how to check a gun to see if it was loaded, and I'm sure there are many people like me. As far as Alec, I don't know what he knows or doesn't know. I am VERY curious to know what's up with the trigger, and if he pulled it or not. Isn't there any film, or are there no witnesses who can answer that question?

IMO there is no reason to have a real weapon on the set of any movie.

As far as he's concerned, he wasn't handling a gun. He was handling a prop. A facsimile. Not a real gun.

I wonder if he doesn't remember pulling the trigger. Maybe he really believes he didn't pull the trigger because he's blotted it out in his mind? Or maybe the prop gun malfunctioned?

These actors amaze me. When they are in their publicity tours to promote their latest movies many say day that they did research for their roles. If they are playing lawyers, doctors, teachers, etc, they interview the people in that position. Many even say that they follow them around for a few days or weeks observing them. Now they are trying to claim ignorance regarding the handling of a gun. Alec Baldwin should have done research and training in how to handle a gun for his role.

So many times there is a big push for gun control. Lots and lots of talk. It is such a common message.

Yet look at so many of the movies made. A familiar theme of the movie are guns.

Guess the movies is the only place that people don't want gun control.

@Stelladorable @faeriemoon ...Do you get Hulu?...I came across an interview that George Stephanopoulos was granted with Alec Baldwin in 2021...It is very detailed and gives a lot of input that you might find interesting...I found Alec Baldwin to be very genuine.

The big question for everyone is who put the live bullet in the prop gun?..Why were there even live bullets on the movie set to begin with?...Also, I have read that even dummy bullets can cause injury and death so utmost care has to be taken with any gun that is being used on a movie set.

@RollTide2008This is from an article about safety on movie sets that says technology for weapon imagery instead of using real weapons has been in the works. Sad it wasn't sooner.

Technology may take the safety question out of actors' hands entirely.

Productions were already using digital effects to simulate the flash and bang of gunfire more often, but Hutchins' death has almost certainly sped the change along.

"There are a lot of bad ways that digital takes over, but this is a good way," said Spencer Parsons, an associate professor and head of production at Northwestern University in the School of Communication's department of Radio/Television/Film who has worked as a director and in other roles on sets.

And when it comes to hardware, companies have been making increasingly convincing replicas, essentially enhanced BB guns with moving parts that behave like pistols but don't fire bullets. Muzzle flashes and sounds are added in post-production.

It is horribly WRONG that he is being charged. This is an incredibly unfair and wrong charge. I feel sorry for Alec and his family. That prosecutor should be ashamed of herself. I hope Alec gets a fair jury if it goes to trial.

If it is up to the actor, if they are responsible for the prop and the parts of it, to check it completely for safety, then there is zero need for a specialist to be on site to be "in charge".

The actors who pipe up to report how they always check, that's irrelevant, that's up to them and their peace of mind, apparently not trusting their specialist to do their job. Too bad Baldwin trusted. Trusting is not illegal.
