Advice needed to purchase piano

My friend is thinking of purchasing a piano for her children. They have shown a little interest but of course, she doesn't know if they'll really follow through so she's hoping to buy a used one.

Can anyone give advice on a purchase like this? What should she look for? Avoid? Brand names that are recommended? The only thing I know is that it will have to be tuned after moving it to her place.

Any help would be appreciated. TIA

My only advice would be to get something second hand in case the kids lose all interest. I would guess that most cities have music stores. I know of a very reputable store in my area that has been around for years and they sell new and previously owned pianos.

Thanks, AuntG, for taking the time to respond. I totally agree and will pass this on to her.

What about renting a piano? That might be an alternative to buying.

How are the neighbors? I was out for a walk the other morning, and some poor kid was practicing the violin, and I was grateful that I didn't live next door. {#emotions_dlg.blush}

If my neighbor bought a piano, I'd cry.
