Inner and outer beauty, dignity, class, Arlene Dahl was a true movie star.  When she walked into a room, she was  noticed.  May she be at peace.

Hers was one of the first beauty books I ever bought. I didn't pay all that much attention to her advice about relationships, despite the book's title ("Always Ask A Man"), but I did love how she provided a "capsule wardrobe" and categorized women by hair color to say that certain colors looked better on one than the other.  It was one of the earlier books to take that on. This is not to say she had it all right, but it was a sweet effort.

And she had, for that time, an adorable quiz to determine your "true" hair color (and accompanying personality!):

For fans of Miss Dahl TCM will present a tribute on February 11th beginning at 6 am.

It consists mostly of her MGM work, 1949 to 1951 while she was under contract.

Is it just me thinking. the female and male stars of long ago were so much better looking than the majority of today,s stars?

The women were beautiful, classy and elegant.

qvcaddition:  Funny you should mention this.  I am a big fan of TCM and just the other day we were watching an old film and I commented on how the women were so gorgeous and elegant as well as the men.  No big "grapefruit" balls (you know what I mean) that look so hideous and no ridiculous rear ends sticking out from surgery.  The men and women were just so classy and dressed so beautifully.  Now most of the new actresses look like cartoon characters.
