He was a great character actor, remember him from Beaches.

When the TV show Homicide was being filmed here in Baltimore years ago, his name made our local paper quite a bit. He has a son with actress from Homicide, Melissa Leo. They were involved in a bitter custody battle, and he was coming here to see the boy, when he was not supposed to, and Ms. Leo would get the police involved, it was always in the news.

First I read it was a hoax, then TMZ reported it but I do not trust them.

If you Google his name, it comes up on several sites, that he has passed away.

No matter what roles he played in movies or TV I always remember him as the father in Home Alone--one of my all time favorite movies.  Sorry to hear.

That's too bad.  It seems that we're losing a lot of stars lately. 

He was in White Chicks too, and a really good one with Goldie Hawn too. Don't remember the name of it.
