Actress Carol Channing died today (1/15/19) of natural causes.  She was 97.  I met her in the 70's and she was delightful!

Re: ACTRESS CAROL CHANNING DIES

I saw Carol Channing in Nwe York when I was 11 years old.

My Mother and I went on the bus from Virginia. We stayed at the Taft Hotel and saw Matinees.

Carol was in “Wonderful Town” (My first Broadway musical). We also saw “Kismet” with Alfred Drake.

She had such a great voice and was so natural on stage!

Vincent Lopez and his band played at the Taft. They played “Green Door” and I danced with him.

What a wonderful trip that was!

I saw her on Broadway in Lorelei.  She was one of a kind.

It's hard to believe she was 97.  Who hadn't ever heard of her.  God speed.

She was amazing.  Always enjoyed seeing her on the chat shows too.

I feel very fortunate too that I got to see her in “Hello Dolly”.

It as her revival of the role in the late 70’s and my first trip to New York.  It was an amazing trip.  I went alone and felt so sophisticated!

The same day, I saw matinee of A Chorus Line. After Dolly, jazz in the Village to see my favourite singer Joe Williams, and on the way back to my hotel, a stop for cappuccino.
