Accoriding to Variety, there will be a remake of the Wizard of Oz.  Although the 1939 film was iconic, the Baum book was filmed quite a few times in to the screen before the famous version.  Most of these were silent films.  Baum wrote the book in 1900.

OMG!! There is no more creativity left.Everything is a remake. I have no interest in a remake of The Wizard of Oz.

it's one of my favorite movies of all time.  i can't imagine trying to remake it.

I am sure they would love to use all the new technology...but there is no way they could improve upon the wicked witch nor those darn flying monkeys!

I remember when it was such a big deal for it to come on tv because there were no dvd's and videotapes to be able to watch a move whenever you wanted. My how times have changed. It does kind of take the fun out of things. I'm not a big fan of remakes. Especially these days when everything has to be picked apart so not to offend anyone.

Why not, you can still watch the older version, and the remake might be good.
