I watch regular Hallmark once in a while, I prefer some of the movies on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel. Didn't they show a lot of new Christmas movies last year around October? I liked quite a few movies I watched. Hope they do it again this year.

What a ridiculous story line. All snowflakes are unique. There are no two alike. They're like fingerprints.
As soon as I would have heard that line while watching a movie, I would've turned it off...it's so dumb.

@stevieb wrote:@geegerbee I agree. Even given this is 'just Hallmark', even given these are nothing more than 'feel good' movies, even given no one expects award worthy films here, the 'new' Hallmark is just awful. They've brought in a good many newer actors, most of whom fall flat, as do their attempts at greater relevance. Scripts are worse than ever and the same goes for 'Great American', whose movies are also really pretty bad, overall. I was once an occasional viewer but can't remember the last time I watched an entire movie on either network all the way through. They're just awful. Even 'feel good entertainment' shouldn't be flat out vapid and boring.
I tend to agree with you that the scripts are worse than ever. The acting is mediocre, and the newbies have zero acting ability. The Great American Channel has the worst though...they nearly all fall flat.

I only started watching Hallmark movies a few years ago and that was because I was channel surfing and saw Gregory Harrison and stopped. I think I got like two good years of movies and then things went off. I think the first year I watched was when Double Holiday and it looks like that was 2019. Love that movie
Now the only ones I can really take are if they're going to be funny. So the Three Wise Men was good. I'll check out any of their movies or Kimberly Sustad's or Kristoffer Polaha. Although the Kittens of Christmas movie wasn't as great as I hoped for. It was like they forgot things from the first movie.
I also think the emphasis on different ethnic Christmas stories isn't working. I enjoy it in theory but instead of a cute Christmas story that shows us traditions throughout it's like the whole movie is to explain the traditions. Not sure if I'm making sense on that. Like my family isn't spending the three weeks before Christmas focusing on Irish tradition every day. Just seems like the stories are getting lost.

As a former Hallmark employee who used to watch all of the movies (and mostly enjoyed them), I haven't been able to make it through one of them for a long time! Obviously, you know the plot (not that there is much of one anymore) and how they are going to end but the company took a new direction a few years ago and it's been downhill ever since (IMO!)

I just had a friend visiting from England for the past two weeks and she said she hasn't gotten past the first 10 or 15 minutes in any of the latest movies.
DH and I were discussing it and agreed that we still like the Hallmark Mystery Movies; they still seem to be enjoyable.
One of my favorite old Hallmark movies is "Straight From the Heart". Great storyline, great chemistry between the leads and wonderful scenery/photography. I liked it so much I bought it on dvd!
They need to get back to what made it work before.

The Christmas movies just get worse and worse. On top of the declining quality they now show the same handful of movies over and over and over, during the summer, certain days throughout the year and then bombardment style from October to January. Given most of them aren't watchable the first time, they really are being optimistic that any half way mentally intact audience is going to tune in for an instant replay. There are perhaps a handful of these movies, typically older ones, that I might watch every year, but most of them just stink. The same goes for Great American and the few other networks that insist on endlessly programming this drivel and trying to top themselves with how many new ones they can mass produce each year.

@pigletsmom - I enjoyed Three Wise Men and a baby and this Saturday night Hallmark is airing an extended cut ( an extra 15 minutes unseen) just for one time. Also there will be a sequel this year - Three Wise Men and a Little Boy. I'll watch that, but their movies are just too predictable and sometimes too boring for me to watch,
