A new low for Hallmark movies

I watched the newest Hallmark Holiday original movie on Sat. It was just awful. The story was about a girl who took photos of snowflakes and needed one more rare one for her collection. Just so happens to run into an old boyfriend who had a snow plow and they took off chasing a really bad snowstorm so she could collect this snowflake that she had been looking for for 3 years!  Problem was there was hardly any snow on the ground nor was there anything that looked like a blizzard. So not only was the ending inevitable, but the scenery was not truthful. Maybe they should have waited till winter to film it. I think that is my last time-wasting Hallmark movie.

@geegerbee  I agree. It was just horrible. Thin storyline and terrible acting. Most Hallmark movies are just fair. A good way to watch mindless tv for a couple of hours. This was not even that.

@Janey2 , @geegerbee  I missed it, so I looked to see when it would be on again. Even wrote it on the calendar. Sounds like I shouldn't bother.

@AuntG @Please do not waste your time. I am a Hallmark movie watcher ( I know, but sometimes I need mindless tv) and this was a new low, as @geegerbee @stated.

Re: A new low for Hallmark movies

I don't know what Hallmark is thinking. The storylines are weak and the acting has little chemistry. To me, it's like they throw a movie together and hope that people rave. I like Marcus Rosner as an actor....but one issue is they keep putting one of the regular veteran actors with newbies.....that usually equals zero chemistry. I haven't watched it yet, but long for the older ones where they paired two fine actors together with an interesting, or even cute storyline. I did not care for the last two European themed movies.

Hallmark is the video equivalent of trashy Harlequin novels, most of which are without merit.

@geegerbee

Perhaps you don't know much about how filming actually works, but it's all make believe.

The production crew has to create scenes that are meant to seem real, but a lot of improvisation takes place.  Fake snow, fake rainstorms, fake locations.

Unless a film is a historical documentary, it's usually not "truthful".

Funny thing about these hallmark movies. I watch them with my brother in law that has had a minor stroke. My sister loves Christmas and he loves the movies. Just when the movie is almost over he says every time...don't look thery are about to kiss! We laugh and continue to eat popcorn. So much fun!

Re: A new low for Hallmark movies

i enjoy them a lot. i am in a bunch of hallmark christmas groups on facebook and overall this movie seemed to be a hit. i like the sappy storylines, the happy endings, the little bit of romance, the family gatherings, minimal strife. i like them tied up into a little neat package at the end. i try not to overanalyze any of them or they wouldnt be enjoyable.

many of these wintery films are filmed in spring and summer when you cannot just create a snowstorm out of thin air.

hallmark is doing just fine in my book and i am now enjoying some christmas in june and july!

Re: A new low for Hallmark movies

I am all for good, mindless Hallmark movies but have found the last few to be hard to watch.  I don't think I have made it all the way through any of them.
