OK, so it is in the dictionary but noted as non-standard.
I would recommend that if you are going on an interview or submitting something writing, you stick with " standard usage."
In my executive careers, I have heard others listening to casual conversation and later remarking how they would not have that individual in their organization. It pays to use correct grammar and standard word usage. You are always on display and others make judgments.....any folks wonder why they aren't promoted.... !
Fair or not, this is the real world. It was why I painstakingly went through every piece of written material my college students ( Leadership & Communication Skills ) submitted and demonstrated a better approach.
I even did this way back when I had a group of college-aged programmers and mentored them with their written and presentation skills. They zoomed ahead of their peers in other parts of the department: they got the promotions !

@Venezia, thank you. I skimmed the post when I should have READ the post, lol. I should have known Judge Judy wouldn't find that word acceptable. She commands the English language.

I work with college students and I've often heard new words and words used differently in the mainstream young adults" speech. And I've said things to the students who have no idea what that word means. That's just in the span of a few generations.
Language changes over time whether we like it or not. Forsooth!

@candyagain- And thank goodness it does! Imagine what we'd all sound like, if it didn't. "The only constant is change."

@candyagain, I'm on FB with some of my nieces and nephews and sometimes they have to rephrase the whole post, lol.

@Love my grandkids I'm with you. I have a friend who it seems makes up her own words. When I ask her if she meant another word, she insists that she is right. I have just stopped, but she is my age and should know basic words.

I've never heard that word used. I would say, and would expect others to say, "we conversed," not "we conversated." Very strange!

Exactly! The word is 'converse'.
I don't really even depend as much on the dictionary, as they have added stuff like 'aint' some years ago. That lost a lot of credibility.

@Love my grandkids wrote:I keep hearing plaintiffs and defendants on The People's Court and Judge Judy saying "conversate"! It's stupid and it's not a word!
I do lilke it when JJ tells the person "There is no such word" and they are able to actually say "We had a conversation" instead of "We were conversating".
I admit I am almost ****** about grammar and often mentally correct someone's grammar, of course I don't do it aloud in person! I do say it out loud to the TV!!
I know I'm picky about this! Anybody else?
@Love my grandkids I'm picky too. As in orientateing instead of orienting
Anything can be a word. IMO its meaning is what gives it value.

@esmerelda Yes! Yes! There is no such word as "orientating' and "could care less" is wrong! The correct term is "couldn't care less"!!
