9 1 1, this just hit me.

Don't get me wrong, I love the show.  Love Angela Bassett.  This just came to mind.

 

Angela Bassett character goes after the man who killed her fiancee.  He was a kid who got high, killed one person, straighened out and became a good citizen.  He goes to jail.

 

Peter Kraus's character, a grown man, got high on booze and drugs, starts a fire that kills 148 people including his wife and kids, gets sober, good citizen.  He's not in jail and Althea marries him.

 

Kind of odd.  I truthfully had not thought any of this.

He was cleared in the incident report because although it was his space heater, the building had many code violations, including non-working fire alarms.

 

Althea's fiance was shot in cold blood.

I would say Athena married a man she loves.  She fell in love with a man, not the past from which he came.
