Re: 4th and 5th seasons of classic Perry Mason

Fun stuff. I think all the women on that show wore wigs. I like watching all the classic cars. Perry had some cool convertibles!  In all honesty, I have a hard time following that show. I wish there was a rule the writers followed that said all testimony given under oath needed to be true. I mean, a witness swears to tell the truth and then lies like crazy. Funny how the culprit often stands up in the courtroom and confesses.

In his book,"Hiding in Plain Sight",Burr comments on the cigarette smoking and talks about the sponsers.

Did ya ever notice that the women never put a cardigan on, just over the shoulders?

And before I get beaten up again--I really, really like the Perry Mason series and am a big fan of Burr.

Re: 4th and 5th seasons of classic Perry Mason

In my opinion, one of the top three shows ever developed for television.  The level of writing, the meticulous production values, the acting --  all stellar.  I love to "alert" individual episodes that were outstanding, almost like little movies, whenever they roll around, like "The Case of the Moth-Eaten Mink",  or "The Case of the Crimson Kiss",  so many of them, actually.

As you soak in the whole nine years of shows, you notice things--  things like how the musical score expertly mimicked or enhanced the action taking place.

It's funny--  while I love the whole 'midcentury' vibe of the show,  that's not what strikes me personally when I watch.

I'll watch, and then think-- boy, human nature never changes.  The greed, the jealousy, the nobility, the craftiness, on and on, timeless.
