25 Years-Lidia Bastianich Culinary Jubilee on PBS

Such a pleasant show overviewing her interesting life and career. The background on Italy post WWII, the refugee experience, the New York setting. What a hoot she is a childhood friend of Christopher Walken! She seems to be just a special person- a "giver", as well as an early successful female entrepreneur in restaurants and on TV.

I really admire Lidia Bastianich.  Her life story is interesting and a true testament to with a dream, initiative, and hard work, the American dream works. Her success most likely exceeds her wildest dreams, but she earned and deserves it.

I like her television cooking shows because she presents in a manner where even a mediocre cook like me can understand the ingredients and what she is doing.  Because of Lidia's frequent use of it, my favorite green is arugula. Before I started watching her use it, arugula was just a bitter green.

If you're in the New York area, check out Felidia, Lidia's flagship restaurant.  She has a place in Chicago called Eataly.  I don't think it's as good as Felidia, but it's set in a multi-faceted environment. The restaurant is just one part of the experience of being in the building.

It was a very interesting show. I've watched Lidia for many  years. I never knew about the Christopher Walken friendship until I saw this show. We've been to her restaurant Becco in NYC and it was very good.

Thanks for the restaurant tips. We ate at her restaurant while visiting Pittsburgh some 7 years ago and it did not meet our expectations. I just read that it recently closed. Tough business.

I live right down the street from Felidia and unfortunately it's no longer in          business.

I always loved her cooking show when she had her mother on it!  My mother and I used to love to watch this also.  I hope they show this again as I would love to see it.  Her son seems rather dry....

@kimbobimbo  I haven't been to NYC for several years. I didn't know Felidia had closed.

I guess Lidia has shifted her empire away from sit-down white tablecloth restaurants to TV, books, retail merchandise, and big entertainment venues like Eataly.  Restaurants have always been a tough business, but in recent years, it seems to be even more difficult to contain operation costs at a level where they can make a profit, and attract diners.
