"Giant" is one of my favorites, I'll probably watch it one more time.

Love the first movie for many reasons, can never get through Giant. IMO A Place in the Sun is one of ET's best roles. Her saying goodbye to Clift in the prison is just right on.

@Mz iMac Is your date correct in the Title? If not this was two days ago.

Two great movies with excellent casts! I think Place in the Sun was recently on,
I remember seeing Giant in the movies, loved James Dean . Rebel Without a Cause and East of Eden are still two favorites of mine.
The two movies mentioned are excellent viewing, both offer great acting, settings and of course story lines which draw you in.

@Tique I had edited it previously but it did not take initially. So I redid it but it took a really long time. Probably while you were typing your post.
Thanks for the heads up anyway. The boards are a tad wonky this afternoon.

Yes it is rather long for a movie of its day. The movie spans decades. All about the trials & tribulations of a married couple as they go from "wealthy" to stinking oil rich.

Love both of these, both legends in their time, but other perfect examples of TCM repeating the same movies over and over again.

I just finished watching A Place in the Sun, after not thinking I would be interested in it due to the description of the plot I read. I mean, who wants to see a movie in which Shirley Winter's character is killed for the most awful of reasons?
Well, it was truly interesting to see. Elizabeth Taylor was stunning, of course. What a sad story that makes such a statement about what some people will either do or consider doing in order to get a chance at experiencing and being invited to enjoy a privileged, glamorous, and elite lifestyle.

Elizabeth Taylor was absolutely stunning in A Place in The Sun ....
Totally agree with you about the elite lifestyle ... kind of reminds
me of things today .....funny how many old movies resonate today .....
