And day three of the reign of Frenchie the Frantic Fool starts off. Yesterday saw Frenchie confuse, confound, and annoy pretty much everyone in the house by nominating Alyssa (a Puerto Rican woman) and Kyland (a black man) after insisting from day one the women were all safe and he would never nominate a person of color. Yea, so much for those promises. They didn't even last 48 hours. Frenchie considers himself extremely progressive in his beliefs and wants to right all past wrongs committed against women and people of color. Or so he says.
Kyland had a chat with Frenchie in the HOH about what the heck was going on and was assured he was just a pawn and that Frenchie had to break up the showmance in the house but he knew Kyland would be a safe pawn as no one would vote to evict him. Kyland was confused by this and asked who was the showmance. Frenchie told him it was Alyssa and Christian and since Christian was safe after having won the Wild Card comp that he had to take out Alyssa. He assured Kyland that he'd be safe and that there was likely a prize or mystery power in the POV comp and he needed Kyland there to win it. (Sure there will be. Whatever you say Frenchie.)
Alyssa then joined the meeting and was shocked to hear that she was in a showmance. Gee, you'd have thought she'd have known that. She assured Frenchie there was no showmance. Christian was brought in to confirm it. Frenchie said he'd seen them standing by one another in the kitchen so he knew they were romantically involved. (Frenchie lives in his own weird little world much of the time.) Alyssa said the only reason she was standing by Christian was that he was making slop and she needed to see how it was done as she's also a Have-Not. The only reason they even talk is that they're on the same team.
Frenchie seemed to buy into that line of thought (not that Frenchie thinks much) and accepted it. When Frenchie stepped out of the room for a minute Alyssa turned to Christian and asked why people thought they were in a showmance. Christian then said it was an easy conclusion. She was the prettiest girl in the house and he was the most handsome guy in the house, so what did she expect? (Christian doesn't suffer from a lack of ego.)
So, Frenchie realized he may have nominated the wrong two people for eviction. Oops! Sorry about that. Then talk turned to who was the true villain in the house. All fingers got pointed towards Derek X. So, the two nominees, Frenchie, Christian, Derek F, Azah, and Britini, who had all joined the chat agreed that one of them had to win the POV and then use it on one of the nominees, likely Alyssa, so they could backdoor Derek X. Frenchie's amazing week as HOH would then end with him nominating a Puerto Rican girl, a black male, and an Asian male. Yeah, Frenchie, Mr. Progressiveness 2021, would end up targeting every minority in the house with his HOH. Not really what anyone would have expected from him, but whatever. Expect Frenchie to change his mind roughly five thousand times between now and the POV ceremony on Monday.
And we have a confusing mess of overlapping alliances right now. Frenchie's latest incarnation of his Slaughterhouse alliance now includes Whitney, Xavier, Derek F, Kyland, Alyssa, Britini, Christian, and Frenchie. You may notice that both of Frenchie's nominees are included in that alliance. Why not? It's how Frenchie's mind works. (In as much as Frenchie's mind works.) At one time or another pretty much everyone in the house has been in the Slaughterhouse alliance, so the cast shifts from minute to minute. A reasonably solid alliance seems to be the Cookout alliance of Azah, Xavier, Derek F, and Tiffany. They could go far.
The preseason fear of many was that Claire would play too hard too fast, but Claire is pretty much just sitting back and watching the chaos unfold while staying out of the line of fire. Sarah Beth is largely following her lead and doing the same. Claire is kind of, sort of, in two small alliances, the Trio with Azah and Hannah, and also the Firefighters with Travis, Derek X, and Kyland. Sarah Beth has a final two with Kyland, but it's very unlikely either makes it that far. There are another five or six other alliances all with overlapping parts, so it's a messy house right now.
What happens today? Frenchie will wake up and change his mind about everything fifty or more times. They'll draw players for the POV comp. The newbies will assume the comp will then start immediately afterward. Nah. They'll then sit around and kill time waiting for an hour or two or eight or more for the comp to start. Then the comp will take place and someone will win. I'd like to see Alyssa win so she's guaranteed to stay. With Frenchie, Alyssa, and Kyland guaranteed to play and pretty much all of the house other than Derek X planning to use the POV, it is likely the POV will be used and one of the nominees will come down and be replaced with Derek X. (Or whoever catches Frenchie's eye at the time.) Then we enter the long, dead period until Thursday when we lose our first hamster of the year.
Oh, and we learned why Xavier broke down yesterday. He'd lost his brother back in April and was thinking of him yesterday and that led to the tears. I'm probably overlooking about fifty major things that happened, but it's been a chaotic couple of days with Frenchie as HOH. It's hard to keep track of everything. Suffice to say the feeds are anything but boring this year. At least in week one. Thank God we're seeing it all from day one this year. trying to piece this all together a week or ten days later would have been a nightmare.
Kudos to the casting department this year. They did a nice job. There are some good characters in this mess of a cast. Frenchie is dominating things for now, but when his reign of confusion ends and a new HOH takes the reins things may just smooth out a bit. We'll have to see.
