Re: virus advertising!!!

[ Edited ]

@Do u really want to hear  So, first off welcome :-)

I'm going to try to keep this nice/simple. QVC is a BUSINESS, therefore, they exist to make MONEY....they HAVE to present products that WILL sell!

Right now our country and frankly the entire world is dealing with something we've never had to before. Life is very uncertain right now. People are in their homes pretty much 24/7 and of course people are going to want to clean/decorate/re-decorate/organize/etc...there is nothing wrong with that at all. They have to buy their items somewhere, why not at the Q?

I honestly don't understand your complaint is what I'm getting at. The Q is not doing anything wrong at all! If anything, they've done A LOT in terms of social distancing, not having vendors on, etc...so I think it's great they ARE taking precautions. Kudos to them! I hope they make a TON of money, b/c then that means people have JOBS and we know how the job market is right now. Point being there are a plethora of reasons WHY the Q is doing the things they are, but just b/c they are selling home type items doesn't mean they are "advertising" for the virus. Geez.

They've sold these types of items for years!

@Do u really want to hear  I also wanted to add this is directly from the Q, it was posted in their COVID-19 response which can be clicked on (the banner at the top of this page)

"We’re trying to offer more of the products you might need to shop for as this situation unfolds: food, home office items to keep you productive, fitness/wellness products, and cleaning items – as well as crafts, garden and other items to enjoy while at home. And we’re temporarily extending our return policy from 30 to 90 days to make sure you have enough time to safely complete your return or exchange."

So, it's a win-win situation for ALL. The customer gets what they want and the company gets paid! YAY! So simple!

I'm glad they are here.  I'm a chronic news watcher and sometimes I just need a break.  So I turn on TV shopping channels, QVC being my most popular.  I also spend hours on the board.  I pretty much finished my spring shopping last week, DH wondered why it was mostly from QVC.  I explained because I've never gotten any grief sending something back if it doesn't fit.

iPlease stop using "Being Home" to advertise cleaning, decorating, cooking products...

"being away from those we care about" JANE to send shoes  to them...  Being "there for us"

Its distateful, stuff is not a solution and qvc sells enough without it.

for some reason this blog hasnt made it to board. hope it does this time. surenothers feel it to. sensitive times.

@Do u really want to hear- I agree.  The tie end to the pandemic to sell products is tacky.  It's pandering.

Yes it does but we dont need to take advantage of a bad situation to sell.
Dudnt mean we shouldnt sell/shop. I'm obviously doing it if I'm watching. Lost one to virus and dont want situation to b commercialized is all.

I understand your sensitivity in this situation and offer my condolences. I lost a loved relative a few days ago, and although it was not to this virus, it was horrible because we could not hug or comfort anyone with human touch. It's hard to see and hear some of the current retail messaging when our sorrow is so recent. But life does go on around us despite our circumstances. I would shop on line for awhile.

@Do u really want to hear, I'm so sorry for your tragic loss of someone to this horrible virus and I really can understand why some of the sales tactics may be upsetting to you at this sad time.🙏😷

A semblence of normal can be relaxing and put people at ease in this time of high stress and living through the unknown.

What would you want Q or any business to do?  They're trying to survive and stay in business.  They aren't around to coddle anyone or wring their hands.  I hate saying this but will this time...if you don't like it, there are many other channels to watch and things do while stuck at home.

As a small, mom and pop business (not retail) what in the world do you want retalilers to do...We MUST keep the economy moving, regardless of what they are selling, or there will be NOTHING LEFT business wise,  when we get thru this crisis.

DH and I are just hoping that once we can get back to work full time, that our customers that are closed are able to gear up asap

Many, many of you will get unemployment +$600.00 a week for several weeks, DH and I are relying on what little business comes thru the door as well as anything that was in our business account.  We are eligible for the stimulus money but that is it.
