1) Why are there still old book threads at the top of the TV and Movies forum? Other threads have been moved; these belong in the book club forum

2) Why do people need permission to enter the games forum? Why isn't it simply listed as an option with all the others?

Maybe because people see them and don't bother tagging a mod to move them. Did you?

If you see something that you think should be moved, post a response with a mod tag (@mods_name) and request it be moved. They aren't going to find every single old post out there on their own. You can help with that.

Hi @insomniac

1. If you can share with me the exact book thread titles that you see in the TV and Movies forum I will take a look.

2. Unfortunately the new forum platform does not have the ability to control posts from one category to only be seen by those participating. This was the option in the previous forums. Customers could post and only see posts if they visited the category. In this current forum, all posts are seen by everyone there is no option to filter out the content. There are a lot of posts generated in the in the Gamers category which causes the list of topics to read dominated by the Gamers category. We received a lot of complaints at launch of the new platform about the Gamers content taking over the forums. The only option available at this time is to "hide" the Gamers category from those who do not want to participate. The majority of the Community does not wish to participate in the Gamers posts. If someone wishes to be added to the Gamers category we are happy to add them, all are welcome to participate. Once added to the list, the Gamers category will appear along the left list of forum categories just below Community chat.

Thanks for the questions, I hope you can share the book threads so I can take a look at the option to move them to the book thread (there are some techinical limitations to being able to move the posts).

I looked at the first two pages of the TV and Movie forum. I didn't see any Book threads at all.

Here are the threads posted at the top of the TV/movies forum:

1) one problem with book threads being mixed in with TV/movie. . .

2) What are you reading? July

3) What are you reading? June

I don't know why those appear for me, and no one else!

If I'm the only one getting them, I can definitely get over it.

@insomniac, It sound like you used the "Float" feature to "pin" certain threads to the top of the forum.  You need to "Un-float" them if you want them to drop away.

Here's the info I posted elsewhere on the topic:

"Float a topic to the top"

After you open a thread, at the very top of the thread just above the original post you see REPLY in a red box.

Look to the immediate right of it.

You'll see "Topic Options."

It has a drop-down menu and one of the choices is "Float this Topic to the Top."

Select that, and when you're signed in the thread will automagically be the first one listed in that forum (of course, if you're not signed in it can't take effect since it's a personal preference).

If you decide to remove the designation, the same drop-down menu has the choice "Un-Float this Topic."

You can toggle between the two and see how it works.

(Note:  Sometimes this will cause the thread to appear twice at the top of the forum.  I think this happens when there are recent posts on that thread…  appears to me it’s a technical bug.)

Hi @insomniac

The above three posts you mentioned are now moved.

Thanks for sharing the specific title with me so I could locate the post to move.

@insomniac

Did you want me to add you to the Gamers forum?

Dear Keyai, thank you for your help!

(I do not want to join the gamers group myself; I was asking for the benefit of others--especially those who might not even know it exists.)
