Merit even a mention on the Meet the Hosts page?!
They work hard and have the worst schedules! For that alone they deserve some recognition

@Andreatoo. They don't get on the host pages until they've completed probation and are under contract.

I think this is true, but then call them 'hosts in training' or something. At the very least the viewers (remember us) ought to have a way of knowing who is who... of knowing who it is that they might want to watch and who it is that they don't...

Because that’s one of the few places on this website they don’t change on a regular basis!

I don't think that's the reason because one of the newbies, that started with the rest of the flock, is listed.
I'm not well-versed in labor laws but even though it's a television station I highly doubt they're permitted to let employees twist in the wind for a year before they know if they have a job?! Most probationary periods are 90 days

@Andreatoo. The new hosts used to make a big deal out of getting their contracts and everybody congratulated them. As with everything else, Q may be slow in getting those pictures up but the criteria I listed was what was stated in the past. A probationary period can be as long as the employer thinks is necessary and can be extended if necessary. Some jobs are a lot more complex than others.

I think you may be giving the Q a little too much leeway. They are still a company subject to the same laws as any other employer in the state of Pennsylvania. There is the possibility that they are not employees but actually subcontractors or independent contractors
Hey it's all conjecture right? I just can't imagine relocating, uprooting my family, and not knowing where you are after almost a year's time?! I certainly hope they're not all still on some probationary period! It would seem the only one benefiting from such a situation would be the employer

@Andreatoo. Their work situation doesn't meet the definition of an independent contractor. There are no labor laws governing probationary periods except that they be paid at least minimum wage.

" however there is an expectation that it be reasonable"

@AndreatooMary DeAngelo has been a QVC employee for years. She obviously was not on probation once she completed her training as a host. The other new hosts are still apparently, in the learning process of their positions and have not been granted their permanent status.
Seems to me this is up to HR at QVC. This information is confidential and covered by the HIPPA Laws. Why would you ask such a private question of QVC host's employment? It is none of your (or anyone else's) business!
