Re: Why does it take so long to process and ship an order? And exchanges and returns??

I asked a customer service rep that a few months ago & she told me it depends on which warehouse the item comes from.  I noticed that some of the items I buy come from Ontario, CA & some come from the east coast.  I wonder if some of those warehouses have laid people off recently so they have fewer staff to pull merchandise. Then there is the fact that QVC closed one of their warehouses last year--remember?  After they had that fire....

I agree,, I keep looking at many orders that haven’t shipped. I called to cancel some, and was told they couldn’t because they’re in the processing stage, but it stays in there for too long!!! I don’t know why they won’t allow it to be canceled!!! So, I guess I’m going to do what you’re going to do!

@Flady1 They won't let you cancel because it's already booked as revenue. I suspect a third party runs their shipping and logistics hence the 30-minute window for cancellations but the slow shipping.

Re: Why does it take so long to process and ship an order? And exchanges and returns??

I find the quickest way to get a refund for return item, is to self pay, and not use their easy return label. It is usually cheaper to use self pay, 1st class, then their return label that is sent back at cheapest low priority shipping, but at a cost of $7.00.Using Easy return label, to return a shirt that way hardly weighs anything, like slub knits, is ridiculous. If the return is more than 1 item, $7.00 is charged for each item. If I really like item and want an exchange, I call CS to see if I can get it shipped out 2 me at no charge, if it's in stock and explain I have returned item 4 exchange and don't want item 2 sell out before returns department gets my return. I too am frustrated with items that stay in process for 5 days. Then over a week for me to receive shipment. QVC. Q-quailty has become hit or miss, so has V-no longer good values, and C-Convenience just isn't there anymore. So why do I still do business with them? Not so much anymore, I'm weaning myself off by not having QVC channel on my streaming box. Next will be deleting app. That will be the hard one for me, but my patience with QVC is making it less so. A break-up of a 30 year shopping experience will come to an end.

Re: Why does it take so long to process and ship an order? And exchanges and returns??

Processing and shipping times vary widely depending on the item and the entity that is fulfilling the order (QVC or a vendor). It seems like 90% of the complaints about slow shipping involve fashion items, and that has been the case for at least five years now; another large subset of complaints has to do with specific vendors who seem to be in no hurry to complete order transactions in a timely manner, and it is surprising to me that those same vendors don't appear to have changed their ways over the years. But there are definitely vendors who do a great job and ship very quickly, so I think it's important to note that as painful as the slow shipping is, it doesn't affect everyone, so sometimes the best people can do (sadly) is keep posting here to vent and keep reaching out to customer service to hopefully raise some awareness of "repeat offenders" that may need their contracts re-examined.

Most of my shopping at the Q is for kitchen and home items, and they always ship relatively quickly. For example (sharing, not gloating), I ordered three items during the free shipping event on Saturday—one kitchen item, one home item, and one top—and they all shipped today. One is scheduled to arrive on Thursday via UPS and the other two are coming via the USPS, so they may not arrive until the weekend or early next week, but a one-week turnaround time is perfectly reasonable.

And for anyone trying to compare QVC to Amazon, there are soooo many reasons that is an unfair and unrealistic comparison, but I'll add this to the discussion: I live within half an hour of *three* Amazon hubs and they still only have about a 75% success rate in meeting their delivery timeframes for my orders this year. I think all retailers continue to be strapped for staff and other resources, and sometimes they can find good ways to handle that and sometimes they can't. I'm just happy to not have to go to a physical store for every single thing I need (or to have to go to six physical stores to do price and inventory checks).

Q is notorious for slow shipping. It's just the way they are and have been for many many years.

It's even slower when the product is shipped directly from the vendor.

[ Edited ]

Just another reason (among many) why I choose to shop elsewhere. Slow shipping and longer time processing returns have been going on at the Q for many, many years. So the pandemic and lack of workers just exacerbated an issue they already had.

Other companies do not have nearly the shipping issues QVC has. As an example.  On the 20th I order a pair of jeans from HSN. It was shipped the next day.  It is already at my local post office and will be delivered with the afternoon mail.  If one of Quarates companies can do it, so can qvc.

Wanted to share an update on shipping times from a recent order of mine.

Ordered 2 side tables: They shipped next day and arrived in 4 days. See email screenshot.

Not sure if it is logistical improvements or just luck, but thought I would add this positive experience to the board.

I can order from just about any online store and receive my merchandise in three to four days at the most. It used to be that way with QVC before it became a huge conglomerate. I don’t live far from their warehouse. As quality and service decline so will the income.

A lot of products are shipped by the vendor and not Q. That always slows down processing and shipping.
