As has been proven by the media's new "discovery," Ted Williams, the homeless man with the "golden voice," the sound of a host's voice should be a top priority in any kind of sales. Part of Lisa Mason's charm was her soothing voice and relaxed manner of speaking. One of Lisa Robertson's greatest assets is not so much her "looks," as it is the sound of her voice, which is melodious and rich. Jayne Brown has that asset as well.
The hosts who annoy the most are those who have grating voices, talk way too fast, or have squeaky teen-age voices, giggle too much, never shut up, etc., and we all know who they are. They can have a good knowledge of the products and still turn one off because of their unappealing voices and mannerisms.
More attention should be paid to the quality of a host's "voice."
