Updating Shipping tracking information

I wish there were a way to provide more detailed tracking information. This modified template is not helpful.

QVC has chosen to use the UPS/Delivered by USPS option (SurePost.) but we don't easily have the tracking information once the piece is transferred over to USPS.

In its present form, we can't just copy-and-paste the UPS tracking number from a phone. Because the customer has to go directly to the UPS record and retrieve that USPS tracking number to keep tracking the package. Sometimes we don't have access to a desktop, where it's easier to do.

@JavaQueen,  I agree that the tracking on QVC's website is flawed.    The problem has been reported often, yet I've seen no changes.

I've learned that a few other websites have the same problem, and in general I get shipping/tracking info quicker and in more detail from the UPS, FedEx, and USPS sites, even when services like SurePost are used.

If you haven't already done so you might want to try these free tracking services.   A few years ago I started using the free tracking alerts from these 3 major shippers and found that I get better info this way.

In some cases we can register our name and address several different ways to be sure it's always recognized.

Then, whenever the shipping site "sees" our name/address entered by a vendor, it triggers alerts.

I receive email alerts when packages are sent and delivered (and all the activity when they're in transit).

Text alerts are available, too.   Shipments requiring a signature usually give a heads up about this in the email, prior to delivery, and often will allow me to sign online if I choose.

These services aren't perfect, but they've been extremely helpful in my experience.  Here are some links, for those interested.

@dooBdoo: You are so right about these tracking sources. I use them all so I know exactly when I can expect to receive my packages.

USPS Parcel Post is the cheapest way to mail something and doesn't offer much in the way of tracking.  It's one of the ways USPS keeps the price of parcel post so low.  I don't like it either.
