Re: Too much infomercial type programming!

The aspect I have really had enough of is the Social Media forced upon viewers nonstop. Yes, yes, I know it is an important part of their growth model to engage (potential) shoppers on all fronts, but it's borderline obnoxious. I felt sorry for poor Jayne and Pat having to stand in front of that stupid board one day and read the total of 2 comments sent in on facebook. I don't think they chose the 2 to read, I think they only received 2.

I read in one of their investor publications management was touting the number of views "Jill Folds a Fitted Sheet" received. (More than a million?)

I realize that Social Media is an important part of marketing and business these days....but too much time is spent on silliness---I mean come on-- a typical question-"if you were going to the Oscars who would you like to escort you?"....."what is your favorite ice cream?"....or "send in those selfies!".....REALLY QVC?!!!!{#emotions_dlg.confused1} How about answering some questions on the PRODUCTS!!!!

And your right, it seems like they get very little response trying to tie in the social media with their TV programming---I remember one Your Home With Jill where they encouraged everyone to send in their comments and they would actually be shown on TV (gasp)! They only got about 3 and they kept running those same ones over and over ....it was just comical! {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

And as for those "Jill Folds A Fitted Sheet" views received....I think people just couldn't believe it so they clicked on it....{#emotions_dlg.laugh}{#emotions_dlg.laugh}{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

I don't like them reading the social media cwap either. Just wasted filler time. I guess reading postings from Facebook and Twitter does cut down on the intoxicated women that call in because they have nothing better to do.

It's great for Jayne and the hosts, since they can talk about Facebook drivel instead of giving the viewer important product info like measurements! Why not talk about what Suzie Q's puppy is wearing when it goes outside to do it's business? Just let the silly viewers interested in buying a piece of clothing for themselves get on their computers and tablets to do all the legwork in finding product info.

GREAT COMMENT! Oh no let's not give product information which might actually help to reduce returns to QVC instead lets talk about the puppies, our favorite vacation spot, or what we are making for dinner.....{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}{#emotions_dlg.sneaky}! And sad thing even if you go on line for measurements on the CLICK HERE...they aren't always there....I guess QVC's prime income must come from the return label fee and original shipping these days instead of actual SALES of merchandise which QVC doesn't seem to care about anymore....they are more interested in being an "entertainment" channel! And by "entertainment" I don't mean it in a good way....because it's nothing but either flat out silliness or stating the same couple of facts repeatedly or going over colors over and over again...{#emotions_dlg.glare}

As long as QVC continues to sell tens of thousands of these higer=priced items during these extended shows, I do not see them changing. They are here to sell and make money which is their priority. Entertaining people -- particularly those who just keep the channel muted in the background to relieve boredom -- is not really their major concern.

While I, and many others, do agree that more diversity would be great, I do accept that QVC is ultimately a business and not there to entertain me.

And as long as they continue down their primrose path, hopefully, (unless things change), to retail oblivion... there will exist what appears to be an increasing group of customers coming onto these boards to express their discontent... A cadre of those same customers will ultimately become tired of the status quo and will move on, and so, at the same time QVC might be selling lots of blenders, computers and vacuums, they'll also be losing potential customers and the accompanying sales that might have been associated with them, both in the short term and in the longer term... It increasingly seems as though QVC doesn't give much thought to that longer term and odds are this choice will ultimately come back to bite them...

Well Said! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}......and one wonders what will they do when they saturate their market and run out of people looking to buy blenders, vacuums, beds, computers/tablets.....
