I'm sure it must be some kind of  'marketing ploy' .   I would think the reason behind it is to say ''I know you (customer) trust me because you see me on tv all the time - but look, I 'love' this vendor (kiss, hug, etc) so you can 'trust' them too !  That's my best guess anyway.
