As others have noted, shorter presentations and also presenting more (and more interesting) items solves the problem of hosts having so much time on their hands that they begin to blather on and on with somewhat meaningless commentary.

It is a strange practice.  For example, if Leah said this outfit would be good to wear to the opera, the light in my head wouldn't go off saying "GOOD IDEA!  WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT," as I rush to my laptop to place an order.
