The way OTHER companies increase their business

It seems that lately, QVC is *starting* to get the message, with better "sales", but -

I buy casual clothing from Blair. A few things I like to have multiples - more than one color, etc. They offer frquent price reductions, but their s&h fees often keep me from buying, as the s&h can be half or more of the price of the mdse, and seriously - no way in that case.

But whenever they have a dual offer, like today - 20% off site-wide AND free shipping - I buy. A lot.

If for example QVC did a Free Shipping Day once a month I think they would more than make up for it in purchases (since most of the goods are overpriced anyway, lol).

Another thing they might offer is 20% off one item of your choice on a given day.

But yeah, in your dreams - which is one reason I never buy clothing from QVC, and don't buy anything with any regularity or frequency.

Re: The way OTHER companies increase their business

It's not a matter of "getting the message".  QVC is desperately trying to liquidate assets to get a better showing in their bottom line.  They obviously have too much merchandise on hand, and as in the past, carry it over too long.  They're trying to get rid of it.  Then it'll be business as usual.  At least we haven't seen Susan's "road kill" coat.

@Moonchilde

I also buy Blair and sister catalog stores, and anyone who I don't have to pay shipping if I can get away with it.  Locally I buy Walmart and Costco.

I look for bargains especially in catalogues.  On the Q I buy AS IS or clearance.  If I see something I really like I  put it in my shopping cart, it disappears and I have record of liking it.  I can wait a few weeks and it pops up on sale somewhere.

I even like Zulily, part of  QVC I am told.

I think QVC has high price points for the things I buy.  I just wait it out and as long as I buy by the color and style I want there are so many places to duplicate what they have.

Yep, I hear ya @Moonchilde  It's not just the retailer you mentioned, and not only clothing retailers either---I can't tell you how many catalogs I've received this week in the mail---all with special offers---one has free shipping, another offers 20% off my purchase, another buy one get the second 1/2 off the price, a coupon code for me to use as a returning customer......Meanwhile back at the Q....they offer $2-$4 off the QVC price????????????????.....Woman FrustratedWoman Tongue

Re: The way OTHER companies increase their business

In the past thirty days, I've received four 20% off coupons from HSN and two 15% off coupons from Evine.  Free s/h off shoes all the time from HSN and the other day, they offered free s/h off $75.00 purchase.

All of Iris Arpel's items were free shipping as well as beauty.  QVC has lost my business while HSN has gained it.

I like Lancome products and if I can buy for the same price or less with free s/h, I do.  It saves me a trip and no extras.

Totally agree. A lot of my QVC business has gone to HSN or Amazon or LLBean or other companies who offer either free or reasonable shipping, a percentage off, or quicker shipping than Q offers.

@MyGirlsMom, whether or not I buy from HSN, it's far more interesting to watch than QVC. Even Evine is often (watches aside, lol) more interesting than QVC.

I used to buy more from HSN (just not buying as much these days in general) and even with my intermittent buying I'd get coupons. I enjoy their wider variety, their eclecticism, and the much lower key approach generally.

@Moonchilde

I love Marla Wynne and there has been a coat I've been stalking since August.  LOL!  It just so happened Marla Wynne was on this week and I found out the coat designer is, Iris Arpel.  HSN had sent me a coupon for 20% off...yeah baby.  Free s/h too.

I'm a jeans and top/sweater girl and I love dgt2 jeans - bought a few pair last month with another 20% off coupon.

Just like a brick and mortar store, everything I've bought in the past few months have been special sales or coupons.

Yes, QVC is very tight on giving the consumer a REAL deal. That can turn on a company if it continues to take and take and never give an inch.  My business with QVC has dramatically gone down as I like  offers of coupons, free shipping and 10 to 20% off my entire order.  That is what other companies offer.

Matter of fact, HSN just sent me a 15% off coupon today in my email good for using anytime in October,.....   got to love that!

Qvc seems to think we want more easy pays.  I don't!  I want free shipping or 20% off coupons.....that we get everywhere else.
