Re: Suggestion for the Forum

Do we really have such awful posters here still?  Haven't they mostly been discouraged by the more stringent rules and the fact that the Mods remove posts or threads?

Even the cranky posters can be engaged with.  Tell them to drink some caffeine, or conversely, take a nap.  Or ignore, of course.

Excerpt from IF, by Rudyard Kipling,

(slightly adapted)

If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men  humans count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
    And—which is more—you’ll be a Man Woman, my son my One!

Re: Suggestion for the Forum

It's no different here than in real life.  You can never control what someone says or does, but you can always control how you react to them.

Re: Suggestion for the Forum

I guess I read the threads differently. I read straight down. I don't look to the left of each and every post to see who the poster is. For me personally, it makes no sense.

i know who the ones are that post veiled political comments, so if I do see their name I will pass on by. I know the ones who never have a nice thing to say, so if I see their name I pass on by.

However , like I said, to check out the posters name before I read each comment is a no can do for me. Especially if the thread is 4 pages long. Lol. Just a small annoyance in life.

Oh well, we're off to the casino on this nasty, rainy day!

It's pretty much a given which poster(s) I tend to ignore by the "leading question of the day." A daily mundaine question seems to ask for the most responses IMO. Does she feel that's a popularity contest or something? Makes me giggle each day and wonder how long it took her to think of "today's question"!! Smiley Happy

Give me some substance in a conversation, please! Although I wasn't here when there was a blocking feature and doubt I would ever utilize it. That seems awfully harsh.

It would be nice but they said whatever program or package they bought for the latest forum redo does not have this option.

@proudlyfromNJ  I am VERY skeptical of that. . . sorry.  I worked in IT too long.

@Sooner  As did I. When you've worked in IT, you know there are ways to do anything! Seems there are a lot of excuses around here. HA!

@Sooner @BirkiLady.   Gotcha, I will defer to the experts. What I do know is that a good portion of this site needs help. Each new page for me insists upon jumping around for awhile and then when it stops, it has to rest for awhile before it allows me to scroll. Lol!

Re: Suggestion for the Forum

The whole thing could get nasty and it also could make life "interesting" for the monitors.  I think their job is to watch whatever is being posted themselves and make a determination.  If they see lots of not welcome posts they can step in and the  customers, us, can be free from having to do this.

There are so many other forums and places to post whatever and whenever people want to post.  QVC is a shopping channel and I believe they have the right to make all the determinations.

Yeah, your right. Stuff like 'Today is Thurs" yep, sure is.  'Weekend', yep, sure is. Feel sorry for people who this may be the highlight of their day. Every day they post some little silly ditty.
