Re: Shipping and Delivery are Horrible stop Using USPS.

I disagree with the OP.  I have had problems with UPS for years.  Never a problem at all with USPS.

Just last month, I waited home all day for a package of medical supplies.  At 8 pm  tracking showed that it was delivered, I called and said it was not.  I had been home all day, within earshot of the front door, and I heard nothing.  They "investigated", and the driver said he had left it on my porch.  Well, no, he didn't.  But guess who they believed?

It turned out that he had actually left it at the wrong house - on the porch of a neighbor who was out of town.  So it sat there for days until my neighbor came home, saw it, and brought it over to me.  UPS still insisted that it had been left on my own porch, and that I "probably just didn't see it".  (Our addresses are nothing alike, btw, so the mistake makes no sense at all.  And of course their insistence that I was the one at fault was really aggravating.)

This is just one story of my problems with UPS.  I've also had packages returned to the sender because signature was required.  Even though I signed the little slip that was left (and taped it securely to the door), UPS said I had not done that.  This happened several times over a one-year period.  It got so bad that I asked them to hold my packages and I just picked them up.  It was a huge inconvenience, but far better than spending ridiculous amounts of time trying to find out what had happened to my packages.

Oh - and one more I nearly forgot!   This happened to a friend of mine, who was sick and didn't leave her house for a few days.  When she did, she found a package that had been left by UPS.  It was a huge box, a gift of chocolates and cheeses, with gigantic "Perishable", "Refrigerate Immediately" stickers all over it.  This was in August, and needless to say she had to throw the whole thing away.  She hadn't been expecting anything, and she had no idea that it was there.  No courtesy ringing of the doorbell, nothing.

I'm sure it varies from area to area, but if I ever have a choice, I always choose USPS.

Every time QVC uses USPS, the tracking number is always wrong. I have to put a 2 digit number (92) in front of the tracking number on my Order Status.  Why can't the correct tracking number be found on my orders being sent from USPS?

I constantly get an error message written in red from the USPS site.....Incorrect tracking number.....

I too have a problem with USPS.  I have had a couple packages that never arrived.  UPS can not help you because it is SurePost.  The post office could care less.  Right now I have 2 orders that are "waiting" for the package to be delivered to USPS - It is horrible.  I wish UPS was a choice that was not to expensive!

Re: Shipping and Delivery are Horrible stop Using USPS.

Someone mentioned this earlier, but I wanted to explain it further.  If you sign up on the UPS website for something called "My UPS", you will be much happier.  Smiley Happy  I originally did the $3.99 90-day trial and loved it so much, I signed up for the next year.

There is a place on the site where you can check a certain box that will make sure that your packages aren't handed off with the SurePost trick.  They call it an instant upgrade.  You also receive emails letting you know a delivery is expected the next day, then a reminder on the actual day, and then a note that it has been delivered.  It's a great service and because the package isn't handed off to USPS, I've been receiving my packages a day or two earlier.

We have both and both are perfect for us in our area.  Never had a problem.  Perhaps it is our location and just the super great people we deal with on a daily basis that deliver our mail and packages.

I live on the West Coast and I get packages sent by USPS much faster than UPS.  I wish they gave us the choice.

Re: Shipping and Delivery are Horrible stop Using USPS.

It seems there are a lot of ways to leave a package, which can be a problem if one does not have secure delivery, like a locked box, or a front porch that is not easily viewed. I have both. It doesn't matter how my packages are delivered, they have never been disturbed. Anything delivered from QVC via USPS is always faster than UPS. Just my experience. I feel for those of you that have a hassle. Could your packages be delivered to work? Although from the amount of shopping some describe or bulky package size may not make this a good option for every delivery.

USPS often leaves packages on the street at the foot of the mailbox if it doesn't fit. OMG Temptation or what !? Definitely NOT secure. UPS always leaves packages at the door in my neck of the woods. Maybe not that much more secure, but not on the street itself. Is there some kind of stipulation that they,USPS, not get out of the vehicle or something? They're like the "wayward" paper boy. tehe

I find just the opposite. UPS will leave my packages laying in my apartment lobby or in front of my door. If I know I have a package coming, I ask the mail lady to let me pick it up or buzz my apt. Talk to your mail person or leave them a note.

Re: Shipping and Delivery are Horrible stop Using USPS.

I've read thru this thread looking for the suggestion. I don't see it, so I'm going to make one, but its directed to the posters rather than to QVC.
I added the words " ( SIDE DOOR ) " to my QVC ship-to address.
On my front door is a small note saying 'Package deliveries to side door please.'
At my side door, which is not visable from street view, is a small note saying 'Please leave package deliveries here. Thank you.' There's room there for a small outdoor end table. If the package is small enough the driver will leave it UNDER the table to make it even less noticeabe to anyone who might walk up my driveway.
Think about what it says on your 'Ship To' address, and possibly making package drop off point less noticeable. I know that won't work for all, but it's a suggestion in the suggestion box forum.
