I love to read and write reviews. I find it very helpful when people give detailed reviews on products. I find it even more helpful if the product has been owned and used for awhile before the review is posted, to see if the product is nice beyond the first ten minutes out of the box.
I am frustrated by Q's review processes though, for two reasons. First, they allow reviews of products that people clearly state they haven't purchased. This should not be allowed. If you don't have the product, you really can't review it. You can have an opinion about it, but no one really cares about what you think when you never used it.
But more importantly, I don't like that we can't come back and add to our review later. Other places, like Amazon, allow a reviewer to come back and add to, or update their experiences with the products. Sometimes that update is very positive and sometimes, enough time has passed that problems or shortcomings are being noticed and shared.
I would ask the powers that be inside Q to consider allowing us access to come back to our original reviews, and update them with pertinent information as circumstances change and time with the product passes. I don't want people to be able to write additional reviews on the same product, but simply update or add to the original posting.

I have thought this same thing. This is a great idea. I love that Amazon lets you do this. I depend on reviews but not when the person has just received the product. You can't give a fair review on anything immediately, with the possible exception of jewelry.

I have thought the exact same thoughts as you! I like being able to edit/update my reviews on Amazon, and updated reviews are really helpful. I think the Q is slow to change but we will see if they hear us on this one... thanks for posting.

I agree with all your points, @Mominohio
Thank you for posting this request.
I especially think it is important to ban reviews from those who have not purchased or even used an item. And to allow updates for reviews after use, or perhaps after, say, a clothing item has been washed and worn a few times.
Thanks again.

I just remembered that HSN won't let you post until a certain amount of time has gone by since your purchase. That is a good idea, as it avoids having people post just their first reaction to the product.

Absolutely a great idea. I bought a necklace, loved it upon receiving it and gave it a great review. Several weeks later I took it on a trip and wore it for the first time and it broke. Couldn't be fixed and I couldn't go back and amend that review. Too late to return.

I also agree on both counts! I now make most of my purchases on line so I can check the reviews. If someone hasn't purchased an item (from anyone, not just QVC), they shouldn't review it. Right now, I'd love to update my review of our snowblower to state that, not only did it perform well last year in 6 to 10" of snow, but it also performed very well in the 2' of snow that the recent blizzard dumped on us last week. I can't do that on QVC, but I could if I'd bought it from Amazon.

I agree. I would very much like the option to edit a review later.
And also, please fix the option to mark a review as helpful or not. It STILL takes me to a new page when I click that and then I can't return to where I was, I always return to the very first review. Every other website I've used can handle this Yes/No vote without taking the user to a new page. QVC.com should be able to manage this, too.

I agree with most of your post. I've bought items I've loved initially but soon learn it was a waste of money. Especially jewelry.. Might be beautiful to look at but could break easily or tarnish (drives me nuts!).
But I disagree with having to have to purchase. I've receive numerous gifts, maybe from my wishlist, that I'd like to share an opinion on. Or even, it might of been purchased elsewhere. If I think it's important info, I want to share, good or bad.
And amendments should be allowed even if noted as such.

I do agree with your point about gifts. I should have been more clear in my original post, that I think you should have to own the item, not necessarily purchase it yourself.
As for reviewing a product purchased elsewhere, I can see where Q might want to limit that, because often the packup or model they offer isn't the same as one you get elsewhere. So sometimes people will be comparing apples to oranges, as the products might not have the same accessories, or features, as one they picked up at another retailer.
