Without products people want and buy, there would be no need for customer service or hosts. So, products first, everything else comes with it.

Overall operation...
Sorry, that's the bottom line for me. The hosts are pointless if the products are bad. The products and product mix are clearly primary, but if you don't have hosts anyone can bear to watch then you lose something... If you only present a handful of available items endlessly then really, who cares about much else? If your inventory, customer service, product fulfillment and shipping operations aren't up to snuff then really does everything else matter quite as much... ? As a television entity, if your programming is deemed stale, then really, that doesn't much spell success... and if you're an on-line presence with a less than state of the art website, well that speaks volumes too...

Okay. So why don't QVC send out a catalogue and become a catalogue selling company if personality and settings don't matter?
