QVC in the past vs QVC today

Being a member of the Q since day one, I have seen so many changes. I have seen hosts come and go. I have seen products that I loved no longer available.  Times have changed.  I personally prefer the early days of QVC.  It was such a convenient place to shop and the hosts were wonderful.  We all had our favorites like Steve Bryant, Steve Colantuno, Dan Hughes, Dan Wheeler, Bob Bowersox, Lisa Mason, to name a few.

I just do not get the same connection with the QVC of today.  Removing Carolyn and Dan was not a good plan in my opinion.

I think all new hosts could learn a lot from the old ones, the ones that help build QVC, the ones that have made QVC very popular.

QVC needs to go back to the what made them successful.  They have changed so much and not for the better in my opinion.

Going back would probably not work now.  It was way too formal for my tastes!  They sold many good and unique items but also a lot of junky stiff that was made to sound wonderful.  I just cleaned out all the junky stuff that really did not work!  Since back then you had to order when item presented and there was work to go to for most so lots of items missed.  I like browsing  online QVC and buying things that way!

Everything changes. That's life. Retail is not the same. Many, many, b&m,  stores are out of business. Online shopping is popular.

Do agree that QVC is loosing interest for a lot of people.

When I started I had to call in my order.

There is no way to go back.  The world has moved on.

Re: QVC in the past vs QVC today

@countrygal Although I do agree, I enjoyed years past much more than now. But, that was a completely different time. There were no online stores, no Amazon. It worked very well and I found it enjoyable to watch.

However, times change, demands change, economics change and the stores all change according to the times. I do believe QVC needs to get with the times and be more current.

@Pook I too have been a shopper since QVC began. I see things differently though. Things I purchased back in the beginning were great quality, rarely did I receive "junk". Currently they have some great stuff but I feel there is a lot of cheap stuff also. I don't believe the focus is on Quality as it once was.

@Pook Agree. Remember Capodimonte? LOL. I recall seeing Mike Rowe on The Tonight Show and they showed a video of him selling it on Q. He said he always hated selling that junk! It was hilarious.

Re: QVC in the past vs QVC today

I agree wtih @cjm61 .  I too have been here since the beginning and I too found the products were better quality back then, not just here but from most places.   I wonder what the future holds for this kind of shopping but they do need to update and offer more to the customer, such as free shipping and perhaps rewards points.    Last month I received $325 in Bean Bucks from LL Bean.  I have their CC and always get free shipping, free returns and free monogramming on top of my reward points!   Plus I have one year to return something.  Granted they don't offer everything that the Q offers but we also have Amazon........again free shipping, free returns.  On and on..........

Oh and someone mentioned how you can't find VPH items on Amazon in another thread,

yes you actually can find some..........and another poster stated she wasn't going to pay a membership fee to shop, well the membership offers you a myriad of benefits.  I think with what I order from Amazon the fee pays for itself just with the free shipping and then some.

@countrygal

Even if QVC COULD "go back" it wouldn't work.

You'd also have to make people "go back" to how they shopped before Ebay, Amazon ... and all the other online retailers ... before the internet.

It's not going to happen.
