It matters to some people who find O/T posts distracting.
If it doesn't matter, QVC needs to eliminate those standards. IMO it's not a good idea to have rules that won't be enforced.
There are no "rules" to "enforce" that state that every thread or post made must be strictly compartmentalized as to topic. There are Guidelines and Standards that *request* that posters do their best to remain on topic and post in the appropriate area. These same Guidelines and Standards also mention avoiding contentious or controversial, as well as political, posts. Clearly, all of those are still being posted - because these are *Guidelines*, not commandments written on an electronic stone tablet. And just as with the political and controversial posts, there will be no hard and fast "rules" uniformly enforced - because moderators or not, at this point QVC still wants their forums to feel human as opposed to robotic.
Could you please provide a link where QVC has stated that the Community standards are merely suggestions/requests and not rules that are expected to be followed? Thanks!

Could you please provide a link that states they are rules such that "breaking" them will result in immediate and universal banning of anyone who does not follow them to the letter in every post? (which was my point.) Thanks!
"Be respectful and courteous to others, even if you disagree with them. Do not use language or post content that is unkind or in poor taste or engage in personal attacks.
"Do not *initiate* or *engage in* political discussions or discussions of a controversial nature." [Emphasis mine.]
If the above excerpt from the Standards were rules that HAD to be followed, across the board with no exceptions or room for interpretation, 3/4 of the posters and their posts would not be here. (Again, my original point.)
"QVC does not and cannot review everything that occurs. We reserve the right *in our discretion* to delete postings or threads that WE DEEM in violation of these guidelines or otherwise unacceptable to us." [Emphasis mine.]
ETA: mustn't forget "Keep your posts relevant to the topic" and "Do not bump messages" - both recurring issues that are dealt with (or not) - *at QVC's discretion.*
Like it or not, what is deleted, moved, not moved, deemed political, controversial or rude is up to the discretion of QVC. Period.

I haven't seen anything about "immediate" or "universal banning" for those who don't follow guidelines; however, I have seen quite a few requests for clarification regarding policies and consistency. Here is something the moderators posteD in the "Welcome Get Started" forum:
The Suggestion Box forum is here for you – We strive to continually improve your experience with QVC and appreciate your suggestions. If you have suggestions, or questions, please post them here and we will do our best to respond.
Because of that post, I believe they are obligated to respond to requests for clarification, especially in threads that have titles calling out to them or posts that have the @ plus the moderator's name.

@Wayne-QVC Since you've decided to join the thread, could you please respond to the OP's question which is directed to moderators? It seems @Kim-QVC is not able to check or respond to notifications at this time.

I think the moderators are quite good at spotting which Suggestion Box and Community Chat "questions" are actually call-outs and challenges in not-disguise. And they are also in tune with responding (1) where they have the authority to respond, (2) where they have the authority to make a decision, and (3) not responding to questions and issues that QVC chooses not to respond to, and those that call out QVC for the "inconsistency" of its policies and guidelines.
The inconsistencies are built in to the Guidelines in that the final decision(s) are those of QVC and their moderators. I prefer to think of it as being human.

My comments are not meant to be "challenging" moderation. As a member of this Community, I would like to know the rules. However, you've pointed out that there are no rules--just suggestions. The inconsistencies and stories about former members getting banned are mind boggling to me. I would just like to know the rules, and as I've previously stated, I would think communicating and enforcing rules would be a priority for those who work for QVC and run the Community.

This post has been removed by QVC because is argumentative.

@Tinkrbl44 Many of us (I'm talking for some of you, I realize) like to keep the subject continuous and are interested in each person's post. Often we respond to a post by asking specific questions or answering specific questions.
Every now and then QVC will move it from Community to TV/Movie, so I get the feeling THEY realize it should be there. However, I'm seeing more and more in the Community Forum.
At the risk of an attack I'll say I thought the reason for all of these sub-titles was so that we posters could specifically post on a specifically (phew! lots of specifics) subject.
I once saw where someone in Community posted that it's easier for them to find a specific subject within Community than it is in the TV/Movie section. I find that difficult to understand as when you click on TV and Movies you will find a long list of subjects versus when you click on Community you only see a few at a time.
Many of us who post in the TV/Movie section watch a variety of TV shows and enjoy responding to those we like or.... dislike.
So, in closing (I know some of you wish I was closing) I'm asking for an answer to my question that in actuality only QVC can give an unbiased
Ideally everyone would post their new topics in the appropriate forum topic without QVC getting involved. The option to move forum conversations to their appropriate category is a new option for the QVC team and also a new experience for customers. We moved posts that initially did not have a category at launch in June (i.e. Handbags, Gamers, Book Club). When an original poster (OP) has requested their new topic be moved to a more appropriate forum category we have stepped in to help.
We will take a closer look at your concern that there are several topics about TV in the Community Chat category. However, the Community Chat category is available for Community members to talk about many different topics as long as the discussion stays within the Community Standards. Often topics get started in a category because that area of the forums is where their Community friends gather. Hopefufully, by reaching out to the original posters and providing them with some guidance for future posts, this concern will resolve itself without QVC needing to regularly manage the location of off topic posts.
Thanks for your post in the Suggestion Box, and for your continued interest in making the Community a great place to visit.
