QVC Moderators please make a Delayed Grief Sub Category under Wellness

[ Edited ]

Hello QVC Moderators,

Years ago on the former QVC forum I responded as did so many other QVC Community Forum Members to a thread called Delayed Grief which a QVC member named RAVGIRL started, and she posted one question on that thread and never returned, but many of us kept that Delayed Grief thread going, as it is something needed since death journeys really touch us deeply, especially when we lose our loved ones, and are confused, frightened, feel so lost, and need all the understanding, compassion, help, and support we can get.

When a person loses a loved one to death that is the time they are most vulnerable, which is why many QVC members feel the Delayed Grief Category should become more visible, to easily access as a Sub Category under the Wellness Community Menu.
I personally emailed QVC directly and asked if they could include the Delayed Grief Community thread, on this new QVC Forum.

A lovely QVC Supervisor answered my personal email to QVC, and said she read the entire thread, and email again.

The next time I read her email reply she said she and QVC were in total agreement, and said they all felt it was a very important and much needed contribution.

She also stated QVC agreed to move some of the Delayed Grief threads over, but could not promise if the entire # of threads from inception to that current date, could all be moved over on to this new QVC Community Forum Board.

I replied that anything which can be done would be so greatly appreciated by myself, and so many other QVC members.

"Also it is still greatly appreciated......... then...... and now".

Since Delayed Grief is not listed as a sub category under Wellness within the Community Menu, and the only way to locate it is really an entailed process, which not every QVC Community member is aware of, I am respectfully suggesting that a Delayed Grief Sub Category display under the Wellness Community Menu be implemented..... so the Delayed Grief Sub Category is easier to locate for those grieving and in need of understanding, a shoulder to lean on, and some support from those who have already taken their own grief journey, and can also share their own personal experiences, suggestions, and expertise... to help one understand what the grief journey really entails.

I truly hope this can be accomplished in the very near future, so please take this under QVC consideration again, and hopefully implement it.

"I have in the past, and still to current date continue to peruse and contribute a great deal to that Delayed Grief Category, and so do other QVC Members", so kindly please also take that under consideration.

We can still offer support, advice, suggestions, and information pertaining to our own grief journey experiences, so in the mind's eye of every QVC Member who visits that thread, can also envision what we have encountered, also receive a QVC Member shoulder to lean on, and much needed emotional support during this time in their lives, when they are most confused, frightened, lonely, and most vulnerable.

Perhaps we unfortunately cannot stop Father Time from marching on...... nor stop the Death of a Loved One, but we can help others as they begin their own grief journeys, and hopefully will see the new Delayed Grief Sub Category under the Wellness Community Menu, in the near future.......God Willing and if they feel the need to visit they can.

Grief is something which must be shared to gain insight, understanding, and finally gain acceptance in order to move on and accept what we cannot change, but receive the wisdom needed to fully comprehend, and begin to again move forward with our own lives.

"When we lose a loved one part of our soul and heart shatters, and we succumb to a deep grief, and many times isolation which overpowers us, but with shared understanding, we can overcome the total confusion, helplessness, and loneliness of missing our dearly departed loved one.

At that time we need intervention, and good communications, in order to take those baby steps again and learn how to continue, and that life does exist even when we become the sole survivor of of immediate family and relatives, as I have become.

In that moment of utter confusion, deep isolation and loneliness, when single tears which flow from the eyes become a constant tsunami, and day becomes night, and one day rolls into another with no end to grieving in sight......that is when we most need a special place to come to in order to visit and share our emotions and deep thoughts, and receive compassion, understanding and to learn what the grief journey truly entails.

“For me the QVC Delayed Grief BB in the former QVC Forum was what helped me the most, and gave me much needed insight, and for that I shall always be extremely grateful to QVC and that is what so many who grieve the loss of their loved one also need”.

“Please QVC make a Sub Category for Delayed Grief, under the Wellness Community Menu, and for that kind consideration I know myself, and many other QVC Members shall always be grateful”.

"For this OVC consideration, I once again most  respectfully, and very humbly, thank QVC in advance for any and all kind consideration, in formulating this to become a much needed reality for many QVC Members”.

How about just Grief?  Grief is grief no matter when it is experienced.

Re: QVC Moderators please make a Delayed Grief Sub Category under Wellness

I agree that this could be a huge service to the QVC community.  For some it could be a lifesaver.

My #1 favorite thread on these boards (pre-changes of last year) was a thread called, "Looking for Signs."  It was about grief, the after-life, and supporting each other no matter what our beliefs.  It was a beautiful thread, with so much support & kindness.  I was so sad to see that wiped out during the overhaul.

Although I agree that a thread about grief is a wonderful idea, I am a bit confused about the title, "Delayed Grief."  Grief affects us all in different ways, so maybe just the word, "Grief" or an all-encompassing title, to limit confusion?

Thank you so much for going to this extra effort to try to help so many people, @adoreqvc!

Count me in for joining the cause & hoping we'll be able to get this going!

[ Edited ]

Many thanks so much Beth for your kind words, and reply, about forwarding it to your Management Team for consideration. I greatly appreciate that!.

Beth the reason I posted my request was because I was informed by many Hospice and other Hospital Medical Experts that when someone we love dies, we experience shock, and in almost all cases that shock sets in first, which actually delays the grief process from fully beginning.

I have helped many terminal people in Hospice, and unfortunately also witnessed them passing, and their loved ones also experiencing the normal process of delayed grief shock reaction.

Again I restate I also questioned Hospital Experts about this delayed grief reaction, and they all agreed that the first normal response when a loved one sees, or hears their loved one has died is shock.

They also stated in many cases denial also sets in, as does bargaining, but the end result is the grief process is definitely delayed.

The above are all part of the grief journey steps, and the last one from that list is acceptance, so in all honesty there really is no confusion about the original title Delayed Grief, and btw to be clear, no one had a problem finding it on the former QVC Community bb's, so it should not be a problem on this bb either.

In view of this I humbly ask the title remain the same as it has since the former QVC Community Forum was in effect, especially since that is the true title many of us responded to.

Beth since  I was the only QVC member personally instrumental and personally involved in originally asking QVC to bring the Delayed Grief thread over to this new QVC Community Forum, I again humbly ask that the title of this category remain as Delayed Grief........because the grief process is actually delayed when the usual state of shock sets in after seeing or being told a loved one has died.

Of course QVC will make the final decision Beth, and I  and respect that, but I again humbly request my request also be taken under consideration, in addition to all the information I included above, which was directly stated to me by those who specialize in Hospice, and also by many Hospital Medical Experts who give medical advice, and counsel the patients, and families.

Beth please know I also thank you in advance, for all your kind efforts.

Re: QVC Moderators please make a Delayed Grief Sub Category under Wellness

I think there are more appropriate forums for the discussion of grief than a shopping channel board.  People come here to relax and lightheartedly discuss shopping, pets, decorating, cooking, personalities, fashion, etc., etc.  When someone appears with the expression of sorrow and/or depression, I think it puts a damper on the whole board.  I think it should be minimalized, not encouraged.  I can also see where it might put QVC in a tenuous position legally.  I don't think posters are trained to deal with the emotions of those who suffering from extreme grief.  We are not counselors and could do more harm than good.

I think the OP means we'll but this is not the right place.

Re: QVC Moderators please make a Delayed Grief Sub Category under Wellness

QVC already decided this was a very valuable contribution to all QVC Members experiencing grief and losing a loved one.

QVC already read the entire Delayed Grief Thread and email replied back to me that they were in agreement that this Delayed Grief thread was a QVC asset, shared very important information, and would help any QVC Member who lost a loved one understand about taking their own grief journey, share our own grief journey experiences with each other, and after a while...... finally reach acceptance and begin to heal.

This QVC Delayed Grief Thread has been active on the current QVC Community Forums, since QVC opened and this thread continues to be a source of sharing, understanding, compassion, helpful advice, and healing for so many QVC Members.

It truly is an asset to the QVC Community, and has already helped so many on the former QVC bb's, and will continue to help many more here.

This the reason why QVC decided to move part of The Delayed Grief Thread here, when they formulated our current QVC Community Forum.

This QVC Delayed Grief thread is about helping QVC Members who lost a loved one, as it helped me survive losing my loved ones.

This QVC Delayed Grief Thread also helped so many other QVC Members get through, learn about, and understand how to deal with their own personal grief journeys.

This QVC Delayed Grief Thread was instrumental in the sharing of our Grief, and our own personal Grief Journey experiences, which allowed us to get through very confusing, sad, and most difficult times of grief.

Unfortunately no one lives forever, which is exactly why this thread should always remain displayed on the QVC bb's, but hopefully under the Community Menu.

Those who would like to share on the QVC Delayed Grief Thread can freely do so, and those who have negative feelings, have the option of Freedom of Choice, and can by pass it.

QVC has always been very compassionate and caring, and will continue to exhibit those wonderful humane traits, and I for one am very grateful to QVC for their  continued understanding of just how very valuable this Delayed Grief Thread is to all of QVC and their QVC Members who lost a loved one.

It all comes down to being human and possessing the human traits of compassion, caring, and the willingness to help other QVC Members understand, walk through, share with each other, and eventually heal at the end of their various grief journeys via the QVC Grief Journey Thread and relative cyber communications.

"Two other words also come to mind which are options and choices.... as is a given by our wise American Forefathers when they formulated various Laws for the People, and offered to the people Freedom of Choice".

I again thank QVC for all they have done to ensure this Delayed Grief Thread remains on QVC as they, I, and others who participated and continue to participate on the very active Delayed Grief Thread, all know just how important and what a valuable contribution it is for any QVC Member who enters their own grief journey, and loses their loved one.

"They need this QVC Delayed Grief Thread for many reasons listed above".

Another very important reason is for QVC Members to come here, and be able to click on the Delayed Grief Category under Wellness, and reach out to share with other QVC Members their own grief, and receive QVC cyber friendship, encouragement, caring, compassion, understanding, and support from many who have walked the grief journey many times, as I, and other QVC Members have.

We we will continue to offer them the support they need, and  that in turn helps everyone in so many ways, and for that again I thank QVC!!!!!

I was wondering the same thing ... what's the difference between "grief" and "delayed" grief?    Nothing.

And there are PLENTY of other sites that have this camaraderie.
