I've been a QVC and QCARD customer for 23 years.  I've NEVER been treated sooooo poorly.  Just moments ago, I received a call from GE Capital telling me I was "two months over due" on my payment.  Not ONLY am I NOT overdue, I was credited last month by QVC for their error in assessing fess when my bill was paid BEFORE it was due.  Further, the QCARD Rep told me that I am in jeopardy of having my account closed.  WHAT??? A payment isn't due for another week.

Bottom line?  QVC must be DESPERATE for customers if they are using these tactics to harass customers BEFORE payments are even due.  I've always had great respect for QVC, their products and especially customer service.  FROM now on, I will take my business elsewhere where HARASSMENT IS NOT PART OF THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CULTURE.

@Tinkrbl44  I have no credit cards.  Just don't use them.  I have several debit cards I use for different things.

I could see how people could get in real financial stress if they didn't keep an eye on spending with that Q card.

I hope she is able to straighten it out.

The Q Card is not through GE Bank anymore. It's now through Synchrony Bank. Are you sure it was GE that called? QVC is not the bank & not the one harrassing you that would be Synchrony Bank. If they are calling you about something past due until you get it figfured out this will continue. You need to see what they say you owe & show them proof how it was paid. You could always use a different credit card until you get the one from Q straightened out. I pay my balance in full on any credit card I use so there are no fees involved. If I return something that has already been paid for I can use that credit on a future purchase. I have never had any problems with my Q Card.

That is a different experience than I had.  The monthly bill was sent and returned addressee unknown.  I had no idea this happened.  The credit card company, not GE capital, froze my account.  Nobody called me.  I found out when I tried to use the card.  I called and it was quickly resolved.

@Annabellethecat66

This is less about convenience for customers, and more about generating revenue for the Q with interest charges, IMO.

.

I was surprised several years ago to learn that the auto financing company for General Motors (GMCC?) was MUCH more profitable than what GM made on the actual sale of the car ......    and the interest actually kept the company afloat many years!

What I think is the BIGGEST mistake is using gas company cards.     Can you imagine not only paying for gas .... but then paying INTEREST on the gas if the months charges aren't paid in full?    Yikes!

I don't get a monthly statement by mail. All my statements are paperless by email. I know who I owe money to & go to their sites each month to get my balance so I can set it up for payment. I don't wait for them to send me an email saying my statement is ready to view. If I did that I would probably have some late payments since I don't always receive them by email in time to pay my bill on time. I have never made a late payment on anything in all my life. I keep tabs on all my bills, accounts etc. You have to to make sure nothing is going on that's not suppose to.

One really has  to wonder why QVC is constantly moving around from bank to bank..In the yrs I have had a Q card ,they have switched many, many  times. This new babk Syncrony (sp?) seems to be the nastiest of them all.

Many yrs ago I had BIG trouble. I paid a $4,000 bill  (always in full and always ahead of time) and got credited only for $4.00 ( clerks mistake)

I had to get my bank involved to fight it for me.It took me a long time to get over that one! I am rethinking by buying habits here for the new year.

@Tinkrbl44  My daughters and my investment guy keeps telling me I need some kind of credit card, but I usually let my daughters put airplane, hotels, etc on their credit card and pay them back.  That way they get the points.

I just hate writing checks so I make stuff come out automatically.  I know I'm lucky.  I own my car, my house and don't have bills except the regular ones.

When my husband was alive I took care of household stuff and he had credit cards for his businesses (he was an investor).  He was extremely successful.

I can't imagine some of the bills some people acquire here on QVC (easy pay).  The interest is crazy on every credit card.

Recent conversation I had with my friend I eat with.  She's 55 retired government, widow and has plenty of money.  We were talking about how easy it is for criminals to get credit card numbers and I said credit card companies could make it more difficult but they don't care.  They just pass any loss on to the customers.

Here's one of the ways my late husband and I played the credit card game.  He had an American Express card that was unlimited.  When we bought our last card together before he died, we charged the warranty on it.  At the time it was at least (i'm guessing) $6,000.  It was a very expensive car.  Then we put some of the extras on it.

We had so many points we went to New Orleans (my favorite place) , took the family, stayed at the Ritz Carlton there, and on and on.  Then when we got the bill he just paid it off!  The poor guy who let us do that lost his job because it cost the car dealership a lot of money (AmEX charges businesses to use it).  We felt terrible and tried to contact the guy but couldn't get his address.  We had no idea.

My daughter (oldest) does things like that).  So does my other daughter and her husband.  My daughters learned from their Dad about managing money.  You invest it and make it work for you.

I cringe every time one of the QVC hosts talk about that credit card and say, "If you use your credit card you can get it on easy pay".

A nurse in one of my Drs offices lost her job because she bought a huge TV and stuff from QVC (on easy pay) and then didn't pay the bill.  My Dr had to let her go because it was affecting her work.

I always told my girls.  Never be impressed by material things people have.  Most of the time it means they are hiney hole in debt.  Any fool can spend a lot of money for something.

I'm not inferring anyone here does any of that.  I don't know anyone here.  I'm just saying in general.  I know I don't like writing checks so I do what I can to avoid having to do it.

I went through a time when I bought a lot of QVC and HSN stuff (after my husband died) but I always paid for it.  I have given away so much stuff, you have no idea.  Then I got to where either I have it or don't want it (boring).

I love the vacuum, computer, camera, stuff shows, I don't watch them and save money!  Ha!

Have a good day.

I don't know how long I have had a Q card but it used to be GE unitl GE sold to Synchrony. I don't think it has to do with Q making changes it's the Banks making changes.

Why is Synchrony the nastiest?
