Ikat design originated from Southeast Asia. I was borned and grew up in Southeast Asia. The correct pronunciation for Ikat is "Eee Kart". Gary from Denim & Co. pronounced it correctly.

It is pronounced with a "r" in the second syllable?

Thank you.  I think you meant e - cot.  (like Epcot).  I didn't know this .. always thought it was i-Cat.

Looked up the correct pronunciation in American English.  Several pronounced the word with a long I (i), several with a long e.

But all said kat rhymed with cot as in bed or boycott.

Webster dictionary pronounces it with a long e and kat as cot.

I'm going with Webster.

Tomato/tomata; youse vs Y'all; whatever. . . different languages pronounce words differently.  Picnic/peek-nik.
